Full Splice Wood Question

I would like to have a full splice cue with an ebony handle into a purple heart forearm. With long points. I have seen very few full splice cues made with this combination and was wondering if there might be a reason? Any thoughts? Any issues to be aware of?

Add a purpleheart shaft dowel and you'll have a spiffy looking cue.
I have 2 full splice blanks from CC. One ebony and one PH. Both are nice. Points are slightly off, but its oversize and any cue maker can balance those out for you

Thanks. What would be a good handle wood to compliment a purple heart forearm with regards to appearance and weight balance?
 
I really like the look of that combo. Here is a j/b that I built a while back. As a player that combo would beg for a fat G10 pin to help keep the weight down. :smile:

probably b/c its not the best combination for "hit" two pretty dense woods more or less absorb the hit, the wood is too dense to give some compression and pop the ball off. Best wood combination (tho its arguable) rosewood into straight grain maple forearm. The maple will compress and the rosewood is going to play back up. Think about it what plays better a maple butt cue, or a full ebony butt? The maple. My bet is that combo is going to play somewhat dead, which is a good reason for not seeing it often.
 
Until you've played with a straight grain forearm, it's hard to imagine how good it plays. It's not black & white/night or day, mind you, but it's got something.
Coring has lightened sticks up & enabled use of some different exotics, but fact is curly & BEM have been around & utile for many years - still... most of the old masters leaned on straight grain a lot. It's always a good playing choice.

Are you suggesting that the coefficient of restitution is what determins hit ?
