Good afternoon forum members! Last night at the local pool room I decided to make a couple videos of myself as I have never had the opportunity to watch myself after I have played. I was just wondering if anyone out in the billiard community would watch these two videos and maybe see if they notice any flaws in my game. I'll Be looking forward to all the responses. Enjoy!

Just copy and paste into your web browser thanks..

Taylor, good videos.
Everything looks good.
You have a quick style -- nothing wrong with that.

The only thing I would change physically--as I can't analysis your thinking--is to
not move your head during your shots.
Now, if that hasn't hindered your sighting/aiming then by all means, march on.
Even players such as Roger Griffis and Morro Paez moved a lot during their shots.

Just remember this however, when your eyesight begins to wane,
that movement will be a factor.
To suddenly discipline yourself into not moving (at that time)
will take even more time and effort to adjust.
If you can learn to stay still (George Fels always said a player can't "steer" the ball with his/her body)
you will be better for it in the long run.

Isn't that our goal? To play pool well for a long time?

I noticed that too. You have a tendency to creep up on the harder hit balls.

The other thing I noticed was you move awfully quick into the shot. I prefer staying back a bit and making sure I'm seeing the shot line and then approach it. You sort of just plop down into the shot line. You do it so quickly that you then have to readjust your back foot. See around the 50 sec mark of the 2nd video. I know quite a few pool players do it this way but I just prefer the snooker way of doing it.

Real hard to figure out what's going on with all that movement.

That's a might big elbow movement!

You'll never see a snooker player readjust their back foot after getting down on the ball. They do a much better job of locking on to the shot line. I think there's something to be learned there.

Thank you sir. Yeah that is our goal. I just do what feels natural and if it doesn't I will get back up and chalk my cue.

I would suggest one thing...

that you do not allow anyone to turn you into a cookie cut clone.

I like the way you LET your elbow drop & it seems that you have good natural timing.

Natural is always better than a contrivance.

I think you may be hitting some shots harder than need be but nothing outrageous.

Nice Shooting.

Best Wishes for You & Yours,
Rick

Thank you Rick I appreciate the kind words. Yeah I used to play with a Schon and I had to pound the ball to move it. Now I am playing with a lucky cue by McDermott and I absolutely love how it hits. I am still trying to make the adjustment.

Your Welcome. You earned them.

Wow,

A Schon to a Lucky Cue that you like better.

That's a bit interesting but all that matters is that it fits YOU better.

Best 2 Ya

Really, you could have more harm done to your game than good by having us yahoos comment on it.

Other than being still and smoothing your final/warm up strokes, don't do anything different. You can have quick tempo and be jerky or quick tempo and be smooth. I have suffered from being jerky and can still make balls but my cue ball control suffers.

Your fundamentals should be tweaked, not overhauled. The whole elbow drop thing is a long debated topic, but IMO it your elbow drops after contact or a few inches, you won't explode.

Nice out in the first vid btw.

Yeah I know. The Schon cues are very nice but they are just too stiff for me in my opinion. I like to be able to put something on a cue ball if I need to. With the Schon it just felt like I was forcing everything. This cue I am playing with now just feels like a natural extension of my arm.

Nice shooting. Don't change a thing. When you can run racks of 10B and get good position...why change, to look like a copy of someone else. Johnnyt

Thanks for the kind words Johnnyt I really appreciate that. The negative ones I can do without I have had a few of those so far but who cares. I like where I am and I wasn't wanting to change anything unless it was something that was major.

So you really just wanted to hear how good you are? Why not just say that in the first place so that we didn't waste our time trying to help you out?

Taking your game to the next level will probably require a long series of minor tweaks not major ones. It's the little ones that can be the hardest to identify.

No that isn't it. The comments I have had so far are way out there. Saying I step into my shots too quick, moving a lot, etc. Look at all the greats. Lots of them move have there things that look weird but it feels natural.. That feels natural to me.

That's what I thought too...posted two vids of runouts. Asks for advice, which seemed a little heavy handed...confirmed when ya said you didn't want to hear negatives. Nothing wrong with crowing a little about nice runouts, but why try to hide that the post is what that was?

Just seems obvious to me, new guy wants to show us he can make balls. That's super! Nice runouts!
