A good example of somebody that knows their business!

The eighteen wheel trailers were longer and had two more 20,000 gross axles under them. Pulpwood was anything under sixteen inches so it ran a larger average than that looks to be. Doesn't matter though, I wouldn't think much of loading that truck by hand every day either! It's not that I mind hard work, I could watch it all day!

I can understand the pool player not lasting the first day laying brick. I have known several old bricklayers that could keep three helpers humping just mixing and toting mortar and toting bricks. I knew contractors that bid ten or fifteen cents a brick, that was gross paying the helpers and expenses out of that too. If you couldn't sling bricks you were gonna starve!

PT109, When they call me thirty minutes after I tell them I am ten minutes away I tell them I am now 45 minutes away and making good time! I hate being bird dogged!

That is Special Dark chocolate. A wise investment! The only thing better than dark chocolate is dark chocolate with almost any kind of nut off a tree in it.

I'm not a fan of corporal punishment but there is a time and place for it. I have heard mother's cursed like they were dogs or worse by their children and take it like it was normal and acceptable. One of those things that makes my palm itch.

My stepson was clearly my ex's favorite over her two daughters. She laughed when he sassed her at seven. I told her it wouldn't be funny when he was twelve years old and far bigger than her and had a smart mouth. I was right it wasn't funny but fortunately the board of education straightened him out.

Exceptions to every rule but children raised without structure often become adults that are pretty worthless.

I did the opposite of grabbing all the candy bars when I was at the donut shop a few months back. A boy of eight or ten was struggling to make up his mind. He and his dad both had manners and politely let me in front of them while decisions were made. The boy decided on the large chocolate eclair, the last one. I was ordering for three couples and an extra adult and my order included said eclair. Without saying anything at the store I bought something else for the adult and told them that the donut shop was out of the large chocolate eclairs. They were out, it was a preorder! It would have been deeply wrong to score that eclair and would have taught the boy a bad lesson about good guys finishing last.

If you raise your children, you spoil your grandkids. If you spoil your children, you raise your grandkids.

My ex-wife is getting that now that we're raising our granddaughter.

this whole thread is pretty much NPR and that's fine. I just happen to completely disagree with the premise of the "joke"

Truth!

That is the gospel truth! My children asked me why I let my grandkids do what they couldn't and I told them the truth. I would have loved to spoil my children but as a parent it was my responsibility to raise them right. It is a grandparent's privilege to spoil the grandchildren like they wanted to spoil their children! It is so much fun to spoil other people's babies and children that I jumped the gun with nieces and nephews.
