Funny pic/gif thread...

A young man with a body shop came to me for advice. In the early eighties he had performed $3500 worth of repairs on a family friend's car. Meantime they had spent the insurance money. Now the car was ready, they wanted it, they couldn't pay for it. I told him to take something off of the car. I had in mind a door or front fender, something that would unbolt and bolt back together, no major work or painting involved.

A few days later I was visiting his neighbor and the young man came over and led me to the car. He had taken an air chisel to it and cut off a quarter panel! That required welding back, body work, and paint. Hundreds of dollars of extra work, not what I had in mind at all. I did have to admit the car wasn't going to be driven away!

I owned a water well service company here in Montana for many years working on two different Indian reservations for both tribal and non tribal customers .
One customer in particular gave me a bad feeling about the outcome of any work I could do for them , the asked if 1/2 down then the balance owed in 60 days , I agreed with them and wrote it out on a receipt they got a copy so did I .

The elapsed time came and went and after numerous calls I went out there with my service rig and pulled the pump . All of a sudden their phone worked , but the money wasn't there and they had no intention of paying the balance due .

I had body shops and the auto insurance companies were always taking me over the hurdles. Then I bought an auto salvage and wrecker service. Now I often had high dollar salvage against fairly small bills. The insurance companies sometimes asked for some slack. Not even in their wildest dreams! I never cheated them or over charged, I never discounted one red cent either!

When I thought I was going to be overextended with a customer I always tried to get enough upfront to cover much of my money. A couple wanted me to restore the body and paint a '64 Rambler. He had been parking it outside his bar for a few years. It had been his wife's first car in high school. She couldn't understand why a '64 four door Rambler didn't have the same value as a '64 Mustang. I explained to them they were spending $3500 on a car that might be worth eight hundred when I was done. I got half down, and I got paid in full.

You have the best stories lol.

Would love to buy you drinks for a week and just listen while we're driving balls into the rail or just sitting there

The funniest part of this photo is the cop in the background mugging me down for taking a picture of his buddy on the scooter. I’d like to know what was going through his mind. He looked more annoyed after I snapped the picture and gave him a peace sign.View attachment 800430

The last I knew there were scooters being sold 600CC or bigger. That makes it a pretty respectable machine especially on city streets.
