Spent my Saturday afternoon sitting with my son in a little valley leading up to a bean field. While we didn’t see any deer, we spent a couple hours watching a squirrel that was adding to a gigundous treasure trove of black walnuts. He’s add to his pile hop up on a little stump and defiantly chatter as if he were proclaiming himself king of the valley and challenging anyone to come and try to take what was his. We were trying to stay quiet, but it did make us laugh out loud a couple times.
My son mistook the black walnuts for monkey balls, so I brought him one home yesterday. My efforts were met with indifference. However, my youngest daughter thinks she could use it as a brain for a jack o’lantern. That could be fun.
