Funny pic/gif thread...

Apple has come close to going under several times. I could get into the specifics of why but it's not necessary. They've always had Steve jobs come back in and use gimmicky product and good marketing to save them, the three or four times they were about to fail.

The I Mac, the I pod, the I phone and the I pad are the only reason they're still around. That and lazy, imbecillic end users like I already stated.

I'm not an apple fanboy in any way. PC user, would never own a mac. I switched from android to iphone a couple years back. The reason was that my nephew wanted the latest iphone and sold me his old one (last year's model) cheap. I needed a new phone and it had better specs than anything for the same price ($300). I did have to put a $60 screen/digitizer in it (he included it) which was no big deal. Like building a pc or lego. Use the tools properly and plug the screen back in, reassemble.

There's really nothing wrong with iphone. It's built very well/sturdy and it's easy to use. Great cameras and a lot of quality of life type improvements. Coming from android I was cussing it for 2 weeks (I don't use it much each day), kind of like how one would cuss a new pool cue until they get onto it. After 2 weeks I hated using my wife's Samsung.

The iphone OS is dead easy to use, less fiddling around than android. Yeah I might have a harder time running homebrew code on it or something, but who really cares? It's a phone. It will do anything I want it to. If there's something I just have to tweak a lot like video editing, I can load it onto my PC, the exact same way you would with android.

Apple fanboys are a thing, but so are anti-apple fanboys. Use what you use and get on with it. I do agree that iphones are ridiculously overpriced, but they are priced about the same as a phone with similar specs.

On the iPhone. I had to switch for my new job. Company mandate. The very first thing I noticed was that I can't put apps where I want them. One has to be in the top left, the next directly next to it. Seems small, butt inn my androids I had four apps on the main screen which meant I could access them without looking at the phone.

Then over half of the few apps I use weren't available, which means that the music server I built around MediaMonkey remote is useless.

Then, the keyboards really suck in comparison, unless you want to text like a tween girl using stupid abbreviations and emojis.

Finally, I got a thousand dollar phone without the necessary proprietary charging cable. Spend another forty bucks.

I don't understand the love these get.

I haven't used them much but it seems like they are always missing a button. Every mouse for the PC has 2 buttons and a scroll wheel.

let's see now...

Jobs has been dead for over a decade, when Jobs was CEO APPL market cap was less than $340 Billion, today it is $2.5 Trillion... your claim is not accurate

as far as "gimmicky" products are concerned I think APPL's track record of change management and innovation speaks for itself

disrupted the personal computer industry, remain an industry leader

disrupted the cell phone industry, remain an industry leader

disrupted the music industry, remain an industry leader

disrupted the camera industry, remain an industry leader

disrupted the wrist watch industry, remain an industry leader

I get it, lot's of haters out there that like to knock success and you can knock all you want but you can't hide from the fact that their products and management have created the largest company the world has ever seen. It is also considered to be one of the the best managed companies in the world. That would be called success by definition.
To me the most surprising post-Jobs phenomenon is its success in computers, a segment that had chronically underperformed, thanks to the in-house M1 chip.

BTW you'll pry my two iPod Classics (and one unboxed, shrink-wrapped iPod Classic) out of my cold dead hands :ROFLMAO:

Apple just announced dropping all support for iPods. Sell that quick so the new owner can get all the latest updates before they go away.

As for the apple conversation I wouldn't use one of their phones if you gave it to me for free... and yes, I have used them in the past.
My biggest issue is you have zero control over the file system.
I plug my S22 into my PC and can copy literally any kind of file anywhere I want to. Try ripping a CD and copying the FLAC/MP3 files to your iphones music library... it's a nightmare to do something like that... and even with 3rd party software you have to have that un-intuitive abortion software called itunes installed.
Try copying your photo collection from your PC to your photo gallery. I remember needing 3rd party software to get my photos to my phone and even then they were listed separate on my phone and not part of the regular library.

Another would be... how the hell do those people function without a BACK button!!!

Do we even need to go into all the shady crap when it comes to repairs and how they rip off their customers? I hate that company.
I would use a flip phone before an Iphone.
But hey... that's just me!
