Unfortunately, Hesiod scholars agree that there is nothing similar to this in his writings that survived. As far as I can tell, it's an unknown quote. It's certainly reflective of attitudes I've been aware of throughout my lifetime, though. Plenty to agree with with respect to the message, even if it's not over 2000 years old...
