california has been moving east. A decade or so ago it was Colorado, then Texas. Got to be careful that a country or western girl isn't a california girl in disguise now! Nothing wrong with how a california girl looks but they tend to be lacking in other areas. If a girl can't help clean big game be suspicious, very suspicious! They are either in disguise or badly corrupted.

I took a Texas gal out to a nice place to eat awhile back. Somehow we got on the subject of pulling calves, I think an old rope one of us found in a saddle bag. If it ain't a lariat, and ain't a piggin string, it's probably pulled many a calf. One story led to the next, led to some uncomfortable looking diners listening to the elegantly dressed lady. "Um Nancy, we might want to change the subject, some people are eating veal." The few that didn't look uncomfortable before did now. I had been trying to impress a Texas girl, should have just taken her to a barbecue or better yet did it myself! I always figured indoor cooking was for the gals, men do the cooking outdoors.

LOL, she was from the Houston area, lots of family still there and in LA. Although she had a degree in education she informed me she really just studied guys while in college. She couldn't cook, I'll just leave it at that ;)

I used to fish the edge of the gulf most weekends. Often two days if the fish were biting. The game wardens and coast guard both patrolled that area heavily. They came up and talked to me and my fishing partner every month or so. He was Navy, I was no moron, so it was yes sir and no sir, and we answered questions about our catch politely. I think I might have had an officer step in the boat once in several years. They raised the lid on the live well, saw that things looked likely, no count and no tape measure.

People in boats near us would be well into the beer and start complaining about always being the ones inspected. Pretty obnoxious about it. In return every fish out of the cooler and measured and an ass chewing about the amount of beer being drank. Usually warnings but a lack of safety equipment got tickets. The coast guard in particular was just trying to keep people alive.

I was a law breaker for years without knowing it. We often caught a limit of fish, gave it away, and went back to fishing. Sometimes two or three limits even with the generous Louisiana limits. That ain't legal but I didn't know it until I read a magazine article then checked regulations. Oops!
