Yesterday, I was practicing with one of the up and coming guns from New Orleans and he speared in a nice back cut. I tapped my cue on the floor a couple of times as the cue ball obtained perfect shape on the next ball.

After the game, which he won, he said, "Did you see me use CTE on that shot?" I told him that I didn't and he remarked that he tries to conceal the manual pivoting but uses CTE on all back cuts.

He was one of the guys who asked me how to make back cuts because he couldn't envision them very well. After a couple of instructions, the first time he ever used it, he made the shot.

The young gun purchased the video and is taking CTE/Pro 1 slow. I just thought it was kind of funny that he was trying to conceal the manual pivoting. I know when the owner of the pool room comes around when I am teaching one of my students, I make it a point to tell them loud enough so that he can hear, "Now always remember to pivot". The owner who has HAMB almost falls out of his shoes.:p

Is there a list somewhere of billiards acronyms?

Seriously I could benefit greatly from this. If there isn't will someone start one?

So, where is the funny part?

Funny that its not in the aiming conversation forum where it belongs?

Hilarious

+1. I'm scratching my head to figure out what the punchline is. Definitely looks like a poorly-disguised ad to me...

WhatRobEats....CTE stands for center-to-edge. Pro 1 is just one form of learning this type of aiming, which does not require a manual pivot...but some people choose to add one. We teach a version of CTE called SAM (Stick Aiming Method). There are others as well.

CTE has a manual pivot. Pro1 does not have a manual pivot.
