I did notice your TV screen was not showing a 9' table, but perhaps a 7' table. I can tell quite easily by the proportion of the ball diameter to the slate surface. Your real table was not 9' so maybe they match up. I'd strongly suggest to make the table an accurate size and let the user pick it, if you have not already done so. A huge pet peeve of mine over the years with the dozen or so table layout computer drawing tools is they are not accurate in the ball diameter to table size ratio. That makes a difference when doing the layouts, because the balls have width, they are not only a center point.

In the app, it allows you to choose which size table you're running the system on. At the moment, the Rasson virtual table is just a standard 9' table. My table in the video is an 8' table.

Good suggestion though, definitely on the way.

Can your system automate/illustrate progressive practice drills?

Yeah this is a good idea. Plus the ability to mount in/on/around different table lighting.

The very few competitors who offer custom hardware + for live tracking and projection that I've found are meant for B2B. One charges $7k to $10k, and the other charges around $3k I believe, and there isn't much info available otherwise on their sites. One seems defunct.

I have about 10 beta testers now, some are already setup and some aren't. The benefit of "bring your own hardware" is people can find used equipment. You can find a suitable used projector for $100-$300, a new MX brio for $199 or cheaper used, a new mini pc for $450 or cheaper used.

With the software, you could have the whole system for around $1kish. Cheaper if you already have a PC.

Having a custom hardware solution would be great, but that would be a bit down the line. For now, this seems like the best approach.

As far progressive drills, not just yet. But that's like a couple days of work, easily doable. For now, I have standard drills, responding, wagon wheel style drill modes, and snooker/hook drills types.

MOST Pool Players do not have the disposable income like Golfer do, if the system is not very reasonable sale will be few and far between. JMHO.

It will be around $299, but much cheaper during launch.

Internet features (live streaming/broadcasting, internet multi-player, community drills) will have a subscription around $15 a month, since data usage costs me.

The two current full system offers I know of right now are Eddi and the Poolhouse system. I'm guessing the latter will be about $20,000. Eddi is at $3000 for the beta version, which includes light, camera and projector, plus software. It installs with a single mounted frame on the ceiling.

Yes, I'm aware of https://iqreality.com/ (little info, but I saw that those systems are $7-$10k) and seem more geared towards casual entertainment/game play.

Eddi is likely the closest direct competitor, but FusionCue is definitely the cheapest of the two. The tradeoff being that you bring your own hardware.
 
Was all the speech recognition in the video legit? If so, can you say anything and it will understand, or only specific phrases?

It's legit, there are 50 or so voice commands. There is also a real time conversational option. I had one trained on Earl Stricklands voice and character, and it was hilarious. Not shipping with the app though, unless I have his permission.
 
OP, We've spoken briefly on reddit before. Excellent work.

As I am sure you are aware, the demographics for AZ Billiards and Reddit are different, which is good because both together give you a broad range of customer representation. Reddit users are younger (teens to 40) and more progressive with less pool experience while AZ users are older (average age now is 50 or 60) and more conservative with more pool experience.

You are going to find a lot more laggards here in general because older people are historically and statistically adverse to new technology. The laggards from Reddit are probably going to be driven more by disinterest in pool or less chance of owning their own table, which is not the case on AZ. However I support your "built your own kit" model even if it doesn't appeal to the traditional "turn-key product solution" that older people on here grew up with and still expect. The reason is that you have two major differentiators going for you:
  1. Your product is highly integrated and polished compared to the competition
  2. Your software cost is very affordable compared to the competition
In order to keep the hardware costs low (as well as electronic waste) it is attractive to reuse available hardware or buy used/low cost options that are affordable to them. You already have tools and resources that you've created that allow customers to figure out their best options. As technology improves users will not be tied to a single supported family of hardware options, and you aren't chained to supporting hardware that you didn't design. It is worth trading some of your early adapters that only want a boxed solution, for software agility and reduced burden of hardware support.

I think it is a good model for what you are doing.

Is there any reason this couldn't be made into a smart phone app? The video could be transmitted over LAN via Apple's Airplay or Miracast (on Android). Solutions also exist to stream video over the Internet without relying on social media platforms (should one want to avoid them). Most smartphones have sufficient processing power to handle the neural-networks powering the vision models.

The phone's mounting height above the table surface of a 9-foot table would need to be at least 2.6-feet with a wide-angle lens with a 120° field-of-view, at least 3.15-feet for 110° field of view, or at least 3.8-feet for a lens with 100° field of view. Most multi-lens smartphones have at least a 110° field of view with their widest lens.

Not specifically, but those are definitely doable features. Fortunately, feature development is made *way* faster these days with AI assistance. So, definitely doable.

There are already a couple mobile apps (Drillroom and Railbirds) I believe that attempt to tackle something similar. But they don't have powerful enough hardware to run a proper vision model that can accurately identify which ball is which.

Plus, there are so many features that a phone just wouldn't be able to handle that I've integrated.
