Future of the ACS???

I just heard from my freind who is at the ACS tourney in Vegas that there are only 9 total teams in the A division. He also said that there are only a couple of vendors and that the event felt like a ghost town.

Is the ACS done for???
 
Wow, it must be really tough to qualify for that tournament.... only a few teams made it?

How much is the payout?
 
I'd like to see the Tournament come back to Reno, as my friends and
I enjoyed the first one immensely.

I won't go into details here, but there is bad history during the time of their start up and the purchase of another well known league.

I will never support or play in the ACS period.

Please, go into detail. Maybe if they did something shady other people shouldn't be supporting them either.
 
I don't think they did anything wrong. In fact they are the only (that I know of) National Pool League in the USA that is a Non-Profit organization.

I must have missed that info. I am all for not rehashing events so I will try to look it up myself. Maybe if you find some time you could PM me a link to get me looking in the right direction.

What does non-profit mean? I know for a fact people are getting paid to manage and run the league. Instead of the league system making a profit all of the net gains are instead distributed to the people running the league? I mean, I know first hand that the "non'profit" thing was a big deal when the whole BCAPL sale was going on, and it was used to attack the new BCAPL ownership, but what the heck does non-profit mean in a real and pratical sense comapred to say, the BCAPL as it is run now?

Now that I have no clue about. Unless both the BCAPL and the ACS want to release there financials for everyone to see on AZ then I don't think that question can be answered. And I am pretty sure that ain'y gonna happen nor do i even think it would be a good idea.

Anyway, as I said in an earlier post. I must have missed what they (the ACS) allegedly did or did do. Whatever the case may be. I haven't gone fishing for the info yet.

Also, personally, I didn't know know this was and ACS vs BCA thread nor do I care if it is. I just simply made my statement of "I don't think they did anything wrong" because I simply have no knowledge of any wrongdoing by them. But hey, what do I know anyway.

You don't have to qualify to play at Vegas in ACS, Valley, or BCAPL, other than playing a certain number of weeks in the league. Valley is 12 weeks, but one player can be on a team with only 8 weeks played. ACS is 4 weeks.

In my area there are 20 to 30 teams in the ACS league. Valley has leagues 2 nights a week. BCAPL has a in-house league of about 14 teams.

The term non profit really means nothing. As a non profit, the company itsself cannot show a profit at the end of the year. However, you can have as many people on payroll as you want. They are allowed to make a "reasonable" salary. So if the company does a gross revenue of 1 million dollars, the CEO can make as much as any other million dollar company and can have a secretary, accoutantant, expenses, etc...
So in summary. The difference between a for profit company and a non profit company is just a matter of who makes the profit, the company or the personnel. In my opinion the whole non profit thing is a smoke and mirrors trick to make people believe that they are all working for free.
