Gabe Owen admitted into hospital - Christmas Eve

He's OUT!

They've gotten him stabilized enough, FINALLY got that white blood cells count down to normal again, and few other things, so let him go this afternoon!! They still haven't figured it all out, it wasn't flu, food poisoning, and thankfully not those stones, so he has to have some follow up done.

Hopefully he'll be treading back UP the hill of health again!

ALL of your words of comfort, well wishes, prayers, vibes, everything, I know helped make a big difference. I just wanted to come and tell his extended family here. In fact, many of you see him more than I do! And of course the streamers allow me to watch him from home since I only see him a few times a year, and Christmas is one of those times, that's why I was a bit bummed out, besides worried.

He said he did get to have chicken noodle soup and mashed potatoes for Christmas dinner, after only IV's and liquids for first long part of stay.

I'm not sure when the next tournament is that he would have scheduled, but I hope he'll be able to make it!

Thank you sooooo much everyone. I hope this is behind him soon, and me too, so I can get back to my regularly scheduled threads - like arguing with Dave and others over on NPR. :D

Thanks again!

Christmas at the hospital - bummer! The worst part of staying at a hospital is eating those low sodium meals and jello. Not that I don't like jello, just not for the main course.

Best holiday wishes to the Owens family. Can't wait to see Gabe back in action!

Chris

Kathy,

Thanks for keeping the "extended family" apprised. I know I've said it before; but, never get tired of saying it: "You're the best".

Hope the New year brings good News.

Sorry to hear of Gabes troubles . His wife must be worried sick too. I'll send the best of wishes From the Northwest. Just like Corey would say to Gabe, during big matches. just relax , just remain calm, Sending calm waters your way. Hope he gets to spend sometime with the family- screw pool-get well first!! He has his whole life to win tournaments and he will!! Mark

I certainly know about not seeing your son for Christmas. Mine is in Jacksonville, FL. We get to see him once or twice a year. He's in the Navy and they don't let you go when you want to go, so Christmas was out, this year. It made it hard on me, along with Gene's mom being in the hospital and his dad going to the nursing home, then dying on New Year's Eve.

I've been wondering how Gabe has been doing and haven't had time to check. So glad to hear he was going home. Thanks for the updates, Mom. I hope you and Gabe both have a Happy New Year!
