Gabe Owen Thread Removed? Mod please at least give me your thoughts

What happened to the thread about Gabe Owen?

As the OP I had made the thread because I had not heard about Gabe maybe for about a year. That was my recollection.

I had no idea he was in legal trouble. I thought maybe he just threw in the towel on being a pool player and had another job or something.

The thread kind of exploded and he was identified as having some legal troubles.

Now I see that the thread, apparently, has been removed.

I hadn't seen anything remotely offensive (compaired to mud slinging that goes on everyday on AZ forums with people hating each other and fighting like it was some kind of personal war - kind of like pussy cat UFC).

So can a moderator please explain why it was removed?

Maybe someone said they would sue AZ for libel or something??

Gabe's Mom is an AZ member and a wonderful person.
If I was her, I would want the thread pulled.
Maybe that is what happened.

Smart move, im light of all the stupid posts in the BB thread, in 36 hours they would have Gabe up on murder charges around here the way things get twisted with baseless speculation.
 
I had not followed on that thread and so I have no idea of the content. I do know this, I really like Gabe, we know eachother but obviously don't BBQ with eachother on weekends. I have always found him to be a really nice guy. He is one of the few people in life who really make me laugh without trying. I hope all is ok with him.

To be on the safe side of any legal ramifications, I would surmise the powers-that-be on AzBilliards thought it prudent to not subject this forum to any prospective problem(s).

It is true that Gabe's mother, who is a wonderful lady, is a member of this forum.

In some ways, I know it is hard to believe, but some members here are like family, having known each other for a decade or more. Some of us have met our forum buddies in person, but some only know them via their posts. When one of us gets sick or dies, we extend our condolences and offer comfort.

I think it was a good move to pull it, upon reflection. :)

I very much agree. If anything is said on this forum that would hurt Gabe in a court of law, AZ would be in the middle. They should pull this as well but I have a feeling there will be much more discussed on the topic.

I very much disagree. Pulling the thread smacks of censorship and protectionism.
There was nothing in the thread, that I am aware of, that was not already in the public domain.

I don't agree with censorship but I do agree with AZ covering their ass. What if someone spilled some dirt in a public forum over that whole mess? Then AZ is liable and they did nothing but facilitate the no named snitch. I'm 100% for free speech and I think they kill too many threads for no reason, we are adults. But this isn't about offending, it's legal. Big difference.

Gabe Owen is one of the good guys in pool. That said if he is charged with something, innocent until proven guilty,

I don't know what's going on with Gabe; none of my biz - but I hope things all work out for him.

ill go with as is but id put a hyphen after shot anyway.

I just watched a new report as i'm sure others did, about the whole thing.

Don't think there is ANY speculation at all.

I'm sorry, but pool players who survive by engaging in criminal activity have only themselves to blame if they get busted and people talk about it.
