Gabriels Pool Tables

I've never even seen one in person and just found out about them today. I am quite curious about them though. How well do they play? How do they compare to Diamond, Brunswick, and Olhousen?

The specs that I gathered are that they are 1.18 inch 3 piece slate. Have shimless leveling (10 point leveling system). How does this stack up to the others?

I dont have the specs but Ive played on them a lot at First State Billiards in Dover Delaware and nothing compares. They have 4 41/2 x 9s. Good luck finding one. They are rare. Very similar to a pro am but the pockets don't trap balls as bad. In my opinion they are the best tables.

GQ Billiards in Chicago has all Gabs and they play well. Very nice room, unfortunately not many players. I like the tables a lot.
 
Played on one at the SBE years ago when they first tried moving into pocket billiards and it was the truest table I ever played on. Wish they had made it, there would be a lot less b****ing about rolls...JMHO
 
Gabriel ables

Gabriel tables are gret tabes.
There are a few things that makes my preference to be Diamonds. (disclaimer- I have a financial interest in Damond).

Olson does nt belong in the comparison. They really aren't a commera table.
GoldCrwns have too many issues - so the real choices should be Diamond and Gabriel's. Brunswick table are still god tables and perform well under come real conditions - but their quality has been slipping for 20+ years.

The Gabries billiard tables are awed e!!!

So is the general consensus that Gabriels play better than diamonds? or at least equal? what about the leveling systems? is one superior to the other?

Just say they play good.
I am not 'that' familiar with newer Gabriel tabes but there are several reasons I feel Damond is a little better product - one of which is 'made in America'.

I do not think thy pay better than Dimonds - they p,ay a little if fervent.

Both ave higher standards than Brnswick.

This is only my personal opinion. Any of theses tables would be just fine for anyone.

to get a new table, it seems like international shipping would get really expensive?
 
Both Oscar and Ernesto Domenguez say in all the tables they've installed and played on, Gabriels are The Best,,,!!!

Diamond billiards used to be the US distrubuter of Gabriel tables,
If you ask me, diamond table was influenced by Gabriel and Connelly, Europe had the look way before the states did.

I've only played on 1 a few times, but can't remember where. Probably in NY. I thought it played good and was a very solid table. I remember the sounds of the balls going in the pockets was different than any table I've ever played on. I'd buy one in good condition at a good price if I still played. Johnnyt

Thanks for coming on here and NOT trashing your competition.... It's nice to have competition, but also give props to folks that do it right... It's not like only one company/person can do something right... there are plenty.. I like Diamonds, and I enjoy playing on Gabriels too :)
 
Any table manufacture that uses 3/8" neoprene facings to get the pockets close to 4 1/2" corner pockets, and the same thick facings to get 5" sides...is no different than stacking up "tripple shimming" using 3ea 1/8" thick facings...just to avoid having to extend the rails so that only one facing is needed...is just wrong IMO. There's plenty more I don't like about them, but I'll safe that for later.;)
 
How many years did Diamond market tables that banked short? I would rather deal with larger facings than a table that didn't play true.
 
Professor QBall should be able to get these, afterall he's the US Distributor for Gabriel.

I was Yura's (Master Mechanic) grunt at the SBE setting up the 3C tables. He calls me the machinist. hahaha.

If the pool tables are of the same design with only thin slates being the difference, you'll have an excellent table. Leaps and bounds over GC's. I don't play pool so my opinion is how the CB & OB reacts off the rails. Pocket width, shelf depth and all the rest I can't really speak to.

GC's have horrible angles, too bad, they used to make an accurate product. BTW Sogaard makes a quality pool table. Other than Diamond you should look to Europe or go Antique Brunswick. Like pre WWll.

When facings wear through the rail cloth at the points of all the pockets before the cloth is even close to wearing out, you'd sing a different song all together...if that happened on your table with 3/8" thick facings, not to mention a ball coming to a dead stop when hitting directly into the points of any of the pockets:rolleyes:

What's the standard pocket size on Gabriels?
