Gambling to Be the Best

Yesterday me and 2 buddies went golfing, 2 of us play pretty even and 1 of us needs about a 1/4 stroke a hole to play even. Before we started we decided to play 25 cents a hole. The most anyone is going to lose if they can't win a single hole is $4.50. But when you got that dicey 3-4 footer that isn't a gimme, it puts the pressure on, especially if 4 skins are riding on it. That is where the positives of gambling lie. I came out at the end of the day a $3 winner 1 guy lost $2.25 and one guy lost $.75. The gambling made it 100x more fun, just for the comraderie. Plus when somebody has to make a 8 or 9 footer to half the whole, you get behind each other.

Personally, I don't see this as gambling. Technically it is I guess. If you have $200 in your pocket and you play for the stakes you mentioned, that's just putting some extra interest into the game. To me, it would have been gambling if you played for the whole $200. I used to play pee pool and we used to have a blast playing for quarters. I never saw that as gambling. It was just cheap fun and a way of figuring out who had the most marbles at the end.

The only way I make $ "On-Line" is by playing Gin.
We can't play until the DCC comes up so lets just save the woofing until then.
I have always done my best woofing "In-Person"!

I will put Joe Kerr in the box if you want to play some gin on-line. If interested we would have to be taught as to were to go and what we need to do to be able to play. We can play for cheap or for a lot, I just think it will be fun for Joe to do and for me to sweat out. amc4

amc4 - I play quite a lot on www.gamecolony.com
I usually have a table open from about 9am until 3pm.
This is (beyond a doubt) the BEST site to play gin for $.
I have done my homework and have been playing here for over 4 years.
If Joe hasn’t played here before, it may take some getting used to as with any Internet game.
He can go there and play for nothing as to get used to it.
I suggest that he also get an account going with PayPal (if he doesn’t already have one). This is the largest Internet money transferring system going. They won't let him buy "Tickets" at GameColony anymore since eBay bought out PayPal but that doesn’t mean him & I can't use it to pay off each other as we go & for no cost to transfer the $.
That’s - www.paypal.com
Believe me, it is great! I keep about $20K - $25K in my account at all times but that is because I use it to pay commissions to my 24 sales reps all over the country.
HEY, INSTEAD OF ALL THIS TYPING - JUST CALL ME @ (800) 645-3913 - TOM

For me & IMO - When I play in a tourney, I am allowed either one or two barrels. When I Play For Ca$h - I can manage my bankroll & bet accordingly.
Just recently, I found a secret for myself in tourney play. It is not a cure-all but it helps quite a bit if I can get a good size wager on the match. Now I have fooled myself into thinking I'm playing for ca$h & not in a tourney.

My friend, Vernon Elliott, who some of you know has never taken a back seat to anyone when it comes to gambling on pool, convinced me to never gamble on pool and he doesn't even know it. He says it is much better than sex and I just don't want to risk it!

If you're shooting with air balls, you deserve to at least get a pinky broke right? :D

Are christians allowed to invest in the stock market? If so, how is that different from wagering on the outcome of a pool game?

Well if I make it to Derby City I will be interested in playing some 1-pocket but you have to treat me a little nicer than the one time I played you before, no nit moves allowed.

What types of things qualify as nit-moves in your brand of one-pocket? Just curious, maybe I'm doing them without realizing it can PO some. ;)

Actually what I was referring to wasn't in a one-pocket match but in a 9 ball match at Derby City. I hung a 9ball in the pocket and gave him the game and proceeded to rack the balls, he called a ref over and had them penalize me an extra game. Per the rules this was his option but it is not something I would ever do and no one else has ever done this to me.

I think it's mighty sporting of you to quit professional pool, then come over here and issue challenges to guys who actually work for a living. It is amazing how raising a family, owning a company, taking care of employees, owning houses, and being a responsible adult takes away from your pool game.

OK, gotcha. That is playing holding the rule book a little too close to the chest, sounds like. Thanks for clearing that up.
