GCiv owners - question on drop pockets

I have a Gold Crown IV with the drop pockets and I am having an annoying issue with the pockets.

I previously had a GCIII and the pockets were more of a black plastic material and they would leave black scuff marks on the balls with a hard impact into the pocket.

The GCIV has pockets that are more like rubber so not as much impact mark but they leave an oily residue on the balls. I clean my Centenialls with a Ballstar pretty often but the balls will have these oily marks in no time.
I have clean the pockets all the time to help with this.
Has anyone else found a way around this or noticed the same problem?

Well, judging from the lack of responses maybe I am too picky. Does anyone know if the Gold Crown V has the same drop pockets as the IV? Maybe Brunswick fixed it on the new ones. Thanks for any help you can pass my way.

I have a call into the dealer that I bought the table from. Have not heard back from him yet. That is why I wanted to check here. I trust opinions from forum members more than sales reps.

I have a GC IV with no such issue. Are you sure it's coming from the pockets and not from your hands?

Yes, it is from the pocket. I can clean the balls spotless and when they go into the pocket they will have a contact oily mark on the ball from the pocket. I keep the pockets clean too.

Do your pockets have a cloudy residue on the surface?

I keep mine clean of this residue, maybe I need to let the residue build up and that will buffer the marks?

I have a GCIV with the same pockets and I don't really have that problem. I used to, until I bought a huge dehumidifier and plopped it in my basement. Now that there's no humidity, the balls are always clean.

Personally, I HATE the drop pockets on this thing.

Never had any similar problems with my GC4.

I have an older GC and had a similar issue. I replaced the original (red plastic) pockets with some black ones that I got from Mueller (poolndarts.com). The replacement pockets had this problem. They left wax-like marks on the balls and worse, they left marks on cues that rubbed them while shooting.

I contacted the manufacturer and related the problem. They sent me new ones and no more problem.

I finally heard back from the dealer. Thay are going to talk to the supplier for Brunswick to see what they say.

Humidity should not be the issue for me as I am in a home in San Diego, low humidity here.

The GCIII would leave the waxy marks as the pockets were more like black plastic. The GCiv is rubber. I go from black marks to oily residue. Just can't win!
