I recently traded for a cue on AZ. After taking possession I noticed just a little bit of light under the joint to about 3 inches down the butt. The shaft has the same issue. I have seen this with shafts before but never with a joint or butt? When rolled it does not get worse it is the same consistently.

It is a very nice 12 point custom cue (Alex Brick). Just concerned there may be some serious issue with it. Is this something that can be repaired or nothing to worry about?

thanks for your reply...you can see light (about width of a quarter) when the butt is attached to a shaft or by itself, you can actually see it when its not rolled...the cue plays good. I was just curious since I have never had a cue with this characteristic.

Do you have a lightometer that you can use or borrow to get an exact measurement of the amount of light that is shining through?
 
If it is not going up and down when rolled it is just the taper of the cue. It is not a problem at all.
 
One more reason not to have parabolic taper with .835 joint , I THINK.:D

I received a reply from Alex. It is the taper. I have never had a cue with that type taper. There are no problems with it....thanks for the replies....guess I will have to save up to buy that lightometer for future questions ...:smile:
