Doesn't matter whether your in a Tournament, League, Gambling or, a Pickup Game... If your Opponent Shoots a non obvious shot on the 8 to win the game, would you concede the game even though he didn't call, mark, point, pat or indicate the intended pocket. He did shoot it with total control, just didn't think to indicate the pocket what would you do?

I would concede it if I could tell it was done on purpose. I'd just tell him to call it next time.
 
If I felt that he meant to shoot it where he did, I say "nice shot" and rack the balls.

Ditto...u gotta be pretty bad to miss a shot by an entire pocket...3' at least...if I felt that the opponent was THAT BAD, I'd ask him, but the call always goes to the shooter anyway, so even if I think he slopped it, shame on me for not asking him before he shot.

I say concede as long as u think he was going there
 
Maybe it was obvious to your opponent. If it bothers you, concede the game and ask them to call all future 8 ball shots or call all balls depending on what rules you have agreed to prior to the start of your match.

This is my response....a warning is appropriate.
I feel the warning is necessary to avoid a dicey confrontation later.

I also ask them to not grab a moving cue-ball at the end of a game...
...'cause someone may take advantage and avoid a scratch.
 
After I woke up from dreaming that I was shooting 8 ball, I would tell him great shot and go back to sleep. And hope I dreamed I was shooting 9 ball, One Pocket, or 10 ball. ZZZZZzzzzzz! A nightmare! I thought it was a dream...... Sorry about that!

for the cheese..I'll ask before he/she is ever down on the shot.
Same goes for tournaments an league..playing for fun , you can
grip an rip it five rails..then I'd ask if that was the intended pocket.
 
So here's what happened, yesterday was the 1st. Tourstop of the year. I was in the quarter final round, playing a very good player it was the very first rack of the set and he broke and ran the rack all very difficult shots but he had a bad leave on the 8 ball which was partially blocked by the 1 ball. From my vantage point I didn't even think he could see the ball but apparantly he could see enough so he appeared to simply be lineing up the shot and before I knew it he shot the ball. I honestly thought he was playing for the hit not the shot so I didn't bother to ask what pocket.

So after he made the ball I did concede the game, but I told him I don't care if you don't mark the pocket but at least point at it or something. I really didn't want to take a game on a technicallity.

I advanced and ended up taking 2nd place lost in the finals then had to wait for the other matches to fininsh to get my next opponent.

It was a 64 man event, I really would have hated to have lost that quarter final match because I ended up going hill, hill with the guy.

for the sake of sportsmanship, i'd let it go. but i'll remind him after he shoots the 8 to call the last ball next time - even if it's an obvious shot (just for consistency)

Sounds like if he could only hit it one way, there was probably only one obvious pocket to make the shot.....
