Efren had this layout in the finals of a big tournament. Which of these options did he choose for position on the 5 ball? I'll post the answer later. Study them and try to figure out which of them is the highest percentage way to run out the rack after getting on the 5. Post which one you think is the best way to play it and why. If anyone suggests playing safe, I'll cyber-punch you. :D

IIRC correctly Efren used option B...and I think the 5 ball was off the rail somewhat...I would use option A

C has too little margin of error (i.e. getting caught behind the 9 ball for going too far, or even landing too near the nine ball). B is the best answer as it is the only option with a large margin /distance for error on the shot, it is the most 'natural way' to get position (just a little if any running english required), and it gives the best angle for getting to the next ball and then out.

I am almost tempted to give you a good rep but I won't.

Thanks for the post, WW

I'd go with B, leaves an easier runout than A or D and if you run a foot to far you still have pretty much the same shot unlike C which requires more perfect speed.
