Im looking to get a new shaft for my viking, but I'd like to know what everyone's opinion is on the best types of shafts to get and what not. I know that almost everyone says a predator is the best thing ever made, but I have my doubts. Im interested in the OB shafts and was wondering what everyone thinks of these and if there are any i've never heard of that might be good.

thanks,
Chris

Shafts

I've tried Predator, OB and smart shafts. Each one has its own properties. Personnal taste will decide which is "better". If posible try a couple of them before you buy. I don't have much experience with different tips but I hear they also make a big differance in a shafts performance.

OB shaft (OB-1 at 12.75 mm tip and OB-2 at 11.75 mm tip) both have less vibration (feedback) in the grip hand when striking a ball, vs: 314-2 at 12.75 mm tip or Z-2 at 11.75 mm tip or even the Universal Smart shaft. The low deflection characteristics are about the same. The OB shafts are less expensive than the others, but made in the USA with great quality!

Consider my Universal Smart shaft. They are no longer being made so they should increase in value.. The only reason I replaced it with an entire cue is because nobody makes just the butt & I had a cheap butt with it.

If you're interested in a "Preditor" design shaft, I would check out Dominiak Cues. I believe he once provided Preditor with radial laminated shaft dolls to make their shafts from (before they moved their shaft production to China). Not to mention, they cost less and are American made. I offer his shafts, or, you can purchase them directly from Bill.

OB - not only are the shafts great, but the entire crew that works in the shop are top notch good people.....also, Royce stands behind his product and is an honest man to deal with....

My two cents, good luck on your purchase...

If the cue doesnt have good shafts with it, why buy the cue?

I use the OB2's...... love em with the moori med tips. And what has been said about the crew at OB is spot on.......Great Folks

I believe a pool player is ahead of the game by investing in a modern 'low deflection' cue shaft, and any one of them will do an outstanding job.
I personally use a Predator, but for no other reason than I bought one when they first became available, liked how it played, and just stayed with them.

OB shafts are very nice, and yes, very nice people I meet at the SBE few years back.

Preditor 2s are also good.
