Getting back in the game/back to AZ.

It's been well over a year and a half since I've had much of anything to do with playing pool, including being here @ AZ but it's time to get back in the game/back on AZ.

The main reason for the long departure was financial. Long story short had to do with the economy crash/job loss/and a son's hospitalization. Many of you fellow AZ'ers here helped us out greatly @ that time during my son's ordeal and I thank you all again for your generousity/prayers/etc.

The combination of it all emptied out all the savings we had. I had to sell all of my pool equipment in the winter of '09-'10 just to squeak by w/o going bankrupt. But the good news is I/my family survived and it's time to get back to doing something I've loved doing for 20-some years.......playing pool.

I recently purchased a custom sneaky-type cue from my friend who is now making cues (thanks Jim) and I'm having him make me a matching jump/break cue to go along with it. I just bought a new Instroke 3x5 cue case that I should have in a few days and I'm going to be playing leagues again starting this next week.

I played/practiced a few times these last 2 weeks and was very pleased with how well I played considering I haven't played even a handful of games in the previous year and a half. I've been running out from the break about 1 out of every 4-5 games on the Valley bar tables which is close to where I was when I quit playing so I feel great about my game considering the extensive time away from it.

Anyway.........it feels good to be back playing and I'm also looking forward to spending some time here in the forums again since I know AZ is such an awesome place filled with great people, great stories and great advice.

IA8baller...I'm happy that things have turned around for you and your family...at least to the point where you can once again enjoy your hobby.
I hope your son has completely recovered and your family is on the way back to emotional and financial stability! Oh...and welcome back to AzB!

Joshua has completely recovered, which was the most important recovery.

The emotional and financial recovery took quite a while longer but at least it happened! I know I was at the lowest point in my life there for a while but getting through it and beyond it has made me a MUCH stronger person, and hopefully that will spill over into my pool game as well. I think about things a LOT differently now than I used to. Don't sweat the small stuff folks!

Adversity will tell a person a lot about who their friends really are, what their family really means to them, and what's really truly important in life. I look at it as a great life lesson and am trying to take the positives and forge ahead with a new appreciation for everything in my life (family,friends,career,etc.......hopefully pool too).

I guess I'm just older and wiser now. LOL :D

You sound wise. How we react to adversity and low points in our lives means everything in how things turn out in the end. Welcome back to your pool family!
