Getting back into the game....what accessories?

POWDER. I hate gloves,or anything else that is supposed to help.I like
powder, and unless they quit making it or make illegal I will keep using
it. If it bothers my opponent all the better. I like to use so much that
sometimes it's hard to find the cue ball for all of the white on the table.

mannn… tell me about it. I's down on the shot - last match of the night, needed just a
touch of left draw too get to an easy kill on the 8, sensor and the red light went off
saying it's a little sticky here, ignored the instinctive signs, I got this; cue ball pops dead,
leaves me with a bank shot. I missed and lost.

...hey yankeee, got room for a table?

Thank you all for the responses.

Definitely not looking for a bunch of extra stuff, just some of the things I may not be thinking about (or know about) after having been away for so long.

Thanks to those with the helpful recommendations.

After many years I just got a cue extension last week.
The kind that just clamps on the butt end.
I LOVE it!! Saves you from needing the bridge on some shots.

Man, it's been a while. When I played years (decades? :sorry:) ago, it was usually with my dad and he had all the 'extras'. Rather than guess and spend hours looking, reading reviews, etc., I'm just going to run it by you experts:

I currently have a Pechauer Camelot II Oxford. On the way, I have a Pechauer JP06-Q. I have one shaft for each cue. I'm going to purchase a 2x4 J&J case with a stand in case I wind up with additional shafts.

Other than trying to determine what glove to get (I know there are multiple threads discussing them), would you guys mind giving me a pretty comprehensive rundown of additional items I need/should have? Specific makes and models would be great. Tip tools, shapers, chalk, shaft cleaner, etc.?

I bought the 'Unglove Fingerwrap' (click) and don't really care for it. It works perfectly, but the piece going from the thumb to the fingers just annoys me. I'll send it free of charge to the member with the most helpful response. :)

Thank you in advance.
Personally, I love the fingerwraps as opposed to a glove. Yeah, the piece connecting the thumb to the fingers is a little annoying, but you'll get used to it, as the wraps themselves work great. They allow you to feel your palm and fingertips on the table and on the rail, so they won't slip when you're using a rail bridge, and you don't need to take the wrap off to rack the balls, unlike a full glove which is too slippery to rack balls properly while on. But all the parts of your thumb and first two fingers that your shaft slides through (with an open or closed bridge) are covered by the wrap material.

I run around with a couple things.

Towel
Glove (Molinari or Kamui)
Jump Cue (Lomax)
Q Claw
Piece of felt to practice jumping
Pocket Chalker with Master Chalk

I need a tip tool and a bridge head or extension.

The only thing I have in my case is two new pc’s of chalk, a $3 slip on bridge head and my cues, tip tools, cleaning stuff at home,

I've been using a glove for the last couple of years, simply because a guy gave me one and kept bugging me about not using it.

I prefer powder, too. The only reason I'm still using the glove is because I'm using the Becue and it's a bit tackier than wood and it's also only 12mm at the tip. I prefer a thicker shaft in my bridge and the gloves makes the shaft fit a bit tighter.

Powder rules!

Wow. You guys are really opening my eyes, for 30 years I’ve had a cue and a shaft and tip shaper. Never bought chalk. Never used a break cue or a jump cue. Towel, glove, sandpaper...huh? I clean my shaft with a damp paper towel after I wash my hands. :D

Looks like I have some shopping to do.

Cue Accessories

My 2 cents...

I'm going to look at this as if I had lost everything I own in a fire & had an insurance check to get a limited amount of stuff back that I had previously owned.

1.) Chalk (I've been using Mako Blue - Outsville)
2.) Portable Cue Holder (if you travel & play) Porper & QClaw.
3.) Last4Ever Tip Tool
4.) Q-Wiz
5.) Moose Head Bridge
6.) Hoppe's Wax Treated Gun Cloth
7.) Spring loaded Quarter Holder (if you travel/play coin op tables)
8.) Accu-Rack Solo Set

Cleaning:
Renaissance wax
Denatured alcohol
Magic Erasers
QWiz
Micro Film Sanding papers (I have used a few brands but find I prefer the Q Smooth, or McMagic)

Hope it helps.

The main advantage of using a glove is CONSISTENCY. As your hand gets gradually more sweaty/sticky, and the feel of the shaft shifts, you frequently need to stop to wash/apply more powder (and wipe down the shaft), which interrupts your pace. I never USED to care about how the lanolin in powder degraded the playing characteristics of the cloth (until I got my own table). Also, as your shaft picks up the inevitable nicks & dings, your bare hand detects them (which I find distracting).

Most people have mentioned all of the best stuff. I play league pool rather than at the same room all the time so I have some stuff that I may not have if I played in a good room consistently or at home.

My recommendations:

Aramith green logo cueball for bar tables

Last 4 ever tip tool (the best)

Qwiz (better than any shaft slicker or sand paper I've used)

Chalk (I like OB as it seems to be less messy IMO)

Justabridge bridge head is the best on the market and easily attaches to your break cue or house cue. I highly recommend it if you use a bridge a lot

Cue extension. Most cue companies are making them these days. I have one for my Pechauer and it's great.

Some sort of portable cue rest. Others have mentioned the Q claw which is effective but can be hard to fit in a case. I have one that folds up that is easily portable.

Last 4 Ever tip tool - best I have found, don't think i will ever need another shaper

Morakami Gator Tip Tool (Knock off of the Kamui) - Roughs up the tip perfectly when the tip glazes or just isn't holding chalk to my liking. Takes two seconds and doesn't mess with the tip shape or seem to take anything off.

Cue Extension - I have the Predator rear extension and it is so much better than a bridge, now I just need someone to tap my Diveney for the bumper now that I sold the Predator cues.

Good chalk - Masters or Blue Diamond, always keep a few pieces in my bag

Mcdermott McMagic Papers - I personally love these for keeping my shaft smooth when I am out

And a glove - personal preference but my hands are always a little sweaty and makes it hard for me to stroke smoothly and the glove takes that out of the equation

Q-claw or similar cue holder - it makes me feel more comfortable about leaning my cues
