Glass City Open

JAM, I'm glad you made it there safely- hope your back pain is gone!

I see that my buddy Brandon drew Jason first round and that Keith drew my former boss, Cass! In fact, I thought there were a few interesting first round draws. I'm just sad I won't be there this year. If only I had moved to Atlanta a month later :(

Gco

I see where Earl, Varner, and Rempe are playing in it.
Keith drew pretty good bracket for first few rounds anyway.
I see where Danny Harriman is playing, and he and
Larry Nevel could possibly meet in 3rd or 4th round,
that would be interesting. I would like to see Danny
win it, and GET PAID, so he would give the other thing
a rest.

Got to see Larry and Danny's first matches at noon today both seem to be playing pretty sporty! Larry one his first match and by the looks of it Danny was going to win his also.

Other early match winners: Earl Strickland, Shawn Putnum, Look like Corey Duel was winning and Danny Basivich beat Mike Lebron. That's all for now will post again later

Buddy Hall?

The chart is drawn, 91 players in total (I think) and 16 byes. Other players in attendance: Ronnie Wiseman, John Binion, Joe Brown, Larry Level, Shawn Putnam, Marco Marquez, Chris Batrum.

Currently Keith and Jerry Slivka matched up against Ronnie Wiseman and Marco Marquez for friendly game of one-pocket, best 3 out of 5.

Nick Varner actually won the GCO three times, I was told. Spanish Mike Lebron came to see the festivities, and he won the GCO in 1990. Bobby Hunter is here and also won the GCO.

Jim Rempe looks as if he is really enjoying himself chatting with the players and hitting some balls around.

All in all, the Glass City Open is off to a good start. Keith players tomorrow at 2:00 p.m., the owner of Hall of Fame Billiards in Detroit, a guy named "Cass."

Jen, is Buddy Hall there? I thought he was supposed to play in it. I'm looking forward to coming tomorrow. I wish Earthquake well...he played awesome against Shane VanBoenig at the Open...I watched it on the BCN internet. Shane can play and Keith didn't give him a chance to show it!! Thanks for your posts and pics...Curly

trick rack?

Does he trick rack people?

I met him at the GCO last year seemed to be a cool guy, I didn't hear anyone saying anything about his racks.

I'm not so sure that he trick racks, but he does spend about 80% of the tournament belly aching about the way others rack. Players fear that far more than his playing ability.

rodney Morris

So who is all going? And who has thier pick as the Favorite and the darkhorse?

And who from AZ is going to be playing in it?

Favorite : Charlie Bryant

Other Fav: Thorston Hohmann but didnt see his name on the list

DarkHorse: Rodney Morris

PS stupid question but what is the format? winner break or alternate?

That is going to be a real trick. Rodney is not entered!

Thank you Ironman. I tried to say the same thing on a previous thread but was jumped on by the Queen Bee of the AZ forum. His whining about the rack is just endless.

The man is just relentless with his whining. Charlie is a great player and a fantastic instructor and once you get him 10 feet away from the table, he is a good guy. His tactics at the table though can be intolerable and quite insulting. The sad part, they backfire on him more often than not. Quite a CONTROL freak.
Control though, is an illusion, once we are obsessed with controlling someone, we relinquish all control, as it controls us.

My man Joe Brown, 2 and out? Somebody up there buy him a double for me,get him focused.

Looks like ...

Keith lost his 2nd match. Nick Varner zipped his
2nd match, 10-0. Rempe got beat too.

When do Danny Harriman and Larry Nevel play?
I sure would like to watch that one ...

Ok, new darkhorse for the tournament is a friend of mine Juan Garcia,

whom, i happend to talk to like two days before the tournament started and i didnt even know he was going to play, so i was shocked when i seen his name on the list, and mention'd it to him, and he was like yea i am playing, i feel pretty good.

And yea everyone in the world knows about Juan and his demons, but you get him off those n shyt, and he will play like the best of them.

I am still shocked that Charlie got ousted from the get go.

I've known Juan for a long time now, though it's been a while since I've see him. He's a very capable player.

I hope he does well in the tournament too. I'm also glad that so far, Brandon Ashcraft has been doing great.

I spoke with Buddy yesterday and he is fine. He just had some blood pressure issues and intends to be at the IPT next week.
