Bought some balls off of ebay, and the came with sticker with prices on them stuck to the balls [looked like they had been there a while]. A few came off easily, but the rest dont want to. I tried soaking them for hours in water..helped, but still lots of crud where the sticker was. Any ideas on how to clean em up. THANKS!!

Lighter fluid would work the best IMO.

As mentioned, bar-q lighter fluid works great for removing all sorts of stickers and label goo.

I have had minor problems with Goof-off and the like as they can be too strong and hurt plastic items, such as a CD jewell case....it will try and eat the case!

Lemon Pledge and just rub like hell.

Yes Sir, been there, done that, and got the t-shirt.

The water didn't work because water alone, even with some soaps, won't break down oil based adhesives.

I wouldn't worry too much about a quick two second wipe of the balls with goof off if that's all you have, but any kind of lighter fluid or rubbing alcohol is better because by evaporating quickly, there is less interaction and contact time between the solvent and the acrylic surface underneath the residue.

You'll laugh at how quick the label adhesive is removed.

fingernail polish remover might work...

I definitely wouldn't use acetone (nail polish remover) on billiard balls. Acetone dissolves most plastics, possibly including billiards resin.

Denatured alcohol and lighter fluid are both good ideas, and shouldn't hurt the ball at all.

Dish washing machine, no-heat dry cycle.

And no detergent. Some will turn those colors to something undesirable.

Fred <~~~ alcohol works very well

Yep, bleach for instance makes the cueball and the white parts of the other balls a nice ugly speckled orange. Peroxide will take it back almost to white, but the surface finish is almost ruined.
Ahhh the strange lessons out there to be learned. :D

Thanks fellas!!

Ended up using Goo-Gone, took it right off. No affect on the balls at all. Cleaned them after with soap and water, and good as new....well maybe because they are new. Anyhow, thanks so much for all the great ideas.

goo b gone, dab a little on your finger and rub on to the label. keep rubbing untill the glue desolves and wipe with a dry napken. then rinse with water. should only take about a minute.

Oops

I use oops to take of the glue residue from the weight stickers they put on import cues. It does not hurt the cue. I am sure it would work fine for those pesky aramith stickers on the balls as well.
