Thank you for sharing Peggy! Gabe Owen is well known by most on this forum and I am very sorry to hear his mother is not doing very well. I hope fund raising goes well and I wish Gabe's mother all the luck for the future.
 
I am very sorry to hear about her situation. I can relate as i am going through very similar circumstances with kidney cancer and luckily my premiums have stayed the same. Money is fairly tight for me right now, but i will make a way to donate whatever i can spare and more importantly i will pray for her and please tell her to keep her spirits up, even though i know that's easier said than done. Peggy, do you know if Gabe has posted this on Facebook? If not, perhaps you could contact him about it. I'm not sure if I'm friends with him on there, but we have many mutual friends and I am sure he'd get a lot of support there.

I'm coming on here for two reasons. The first reason is to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

And the second reason, I was going over some posts, and I saw this one thread that involved Gabe's mother, who is very sick, needs a permanent place to live with her beloved dog, and has lost a tremendous amount of weight. She is very ill.

During this holiday season, it's supposed to be a time for giving. I can't think of a better person to give to and a better place to reach out to somebody who is in a dire need for help. And I'm hoping by posting on this thread that others will feel the spirit of Christmas and reach into their pocket and give this woman some help.

If there was ever a time to give somebody something, this is it.

Anything you can spare would be totally appreciated, I'm sure. And believe me, once you do, you will feel better about yourself, and it might change your luck knowing that you did a good deed for somebody that really needs it. It has always worked for me, and hopefully it will work for you.

I hope the New Year treats you well.

And for you and everyone else, we recently received Kathy's pathology report from her stomach procedure that was done a few weeks ago and from just two biopsies taken it reveals a severe pre-cancerous condition. More biopsies and radiological procedures are going to be done after the first of the year and I will give updates on that. As a retired legal secretary, I'm helping her as much as I can on her paperwork and doctor visits.

Kathy had an Endoscopy of her stomach a few weeks ago. Only two biopsies were taken which showed a severe pre-cancerous condition of her stomach. Her physician plans to go back in and take appx. ten biopsies to verify whether there is cancer present.
In addition to that, she has had very swollen lymph nodes down her neck for the past six months and has to have a CatScan taken on Monday, Jan. 11. The plan afterwards is to have her surgeon remove several of them for a biopsy.
Also, her doctor has put her on even stronger pain medication.
Therefore Kathy continues to seek financial assistance to help in making her copayments, living expenses, and to move into another home.

Kathy (Gabesmom) wanted me to say "Hi" again to everyone for her! We would like to thank everybody who have helped so far through GoFundMe, Paypal, and USPS mail!

Kathy recently had a biopsy of her enlarged lymph nodes all along the side of her neck,including head and upper body, looking for metastases of her ovarian cancer. She will be seeing the surgeon again soon about having extra biopsies of her stomach, and possibly liver, as they continue to search for metastases, because of her extreme weight loss and trying to get it stopped.

Kathy has found a small place to rent that's going to take about $1500 w/deposits, etc., and since it is the beginning of the year, she has many copays of doctors, specialists, hospitals, and medication. Update for Kathy Townsend (gabe's mom) - For help with medical expenses and prescriptions:

Kathy Townsend (Gabe's Mom) found a small place to move to a few weeks ago. Her ex-husband Freddie Townsend (Gabe Owen's stepfather for 21 years) was generous enough to get her moved into her new home.
Because of lack of funds, Kathy lost her health insurance and is needed to get it back again so she can continue her medical treatments and buy her prescriptions. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

We are very thankful and humbled that we are halfway to the original $3,000 goal by the donations of very generous people in helping Kathy in this time of medical and other financial needs. People have helped in her being able to move into a place of her own, Since she lost her insurance, and with her very expensive medical costs and prescriptions right now, several prescriptions are appx. $200 to $400 each. She is fortunate that one of her $400 a month prescriptions is going to be free for a year from the drug manufacturer. We have applied for her to get on Medicaid because she is at the poverty income level at this time, but getting approval of Medicaid can take up to three months.

The costs of moving and paying full price for prescriptions and her severe medical problems, as well as her need for more medical procedures, has disrupted her life! This month she had to cancel her doctor and surgeon appointments due to lack of funds. She needs the biopsies of her stomach done along with other procedures. She is doing everything she can to gain weight back from her critical weight loss. And she is now also at risk of losing her car because she is behind in car payments because of this financial crisis. So she is desperately in need of at least $3,000 immediately.

GoFundMe Update-My sister, Kathy (Gabe's Mom) recently on life support. Please help!

As many of you may already know, my sister, Kathy (Gabe's Mom), was found minutes before death in her home and was immediately placed on life support and remained in a coma for nearly a week. She miraculously woke up and she is now home again, but weaker than she was before. However, we believe it to be a miracle because her doctor told her: "Kathy, we rarely save patients in that condition", meaning the comatose state she was in.

Kathy desperately needs a hand up for her medical and living expenses at this traumatic time in her life. She has fell behind in her car payment, rent, utilities, and other important expenses, and now the medical bills are pouring in. Any amount you can help with is extremely appreciated.
