Gold content in Simonis and Aramith??

Anyone else think some of the price increases are ridiculous that Simonis recently had on their cloth and recently acquired Aramith.
Around $40 increase for a pro carom set,,, some of their ball sets $50, $60, $70 increases,,, insane.

I feel bad for room owners that will be doing a lot of tables.

Unusual to see one co. purchase another and Not increase pricing.
 
not sure how i feel.

Simonis is well known for giving back to the pool/ billiard worlds.

I didn't get any extra money, this life.
 
How is the dollar vs the Euro. I think the $ is on the upswing but I am not sure. And as someone else mentioned purchasing a company will give you more price control power.

The people that work for Aramith want a raise every year, the cost of production goes up so does the cost of the product and every business wants to make more than they did last year. If they have over priced, then their market sales will show it and they will feel the pain. Pool is not a charity case despite how many people espouse it to be. It's a business, either it makes money or it doesn't.
 
Were the balls at a set price for years? Or did they go up every year?

Sometimes a company wises up to the fact that their prices have not adjusted in a long time and inflation is killing them.

After years of not changing, a $50 jump would seem unreasonable. But if they had done $10 a year for 5 years it would feel much more palatable.
 
I'm not sure what other company makes a decent set of billiard balls, but there seems to be some good competition in the cloth business. Next time we re-cover I'm going to look seriously at Championship cloth. Many AZers have said good things about it...especially at half the cost.
 
Prices are all in context. My remembrance of pricing is colored by a long ago purchase of my first set of Belgian balls. Comparing then and now still gives sticker-shock.

But, when you need to get a set of good equipment - it doesn't matter. The moment you take then out of the packaging - all that peripheral nonsense disappears as you admire your quality purchase. :)
