What will that circular top be lined with? Just curious, with parts and say 20/hr labor, what did this cost to build? Cool as shit.
The platter and wall of the opening will be carpeted.

I'm not really sure what my time is worth but I've got $350-$400 in it in parts and supplies.

If there are 20 hours of skilled labor required at the bargain price of $20.00/hr. then just the labor would be $400.

Of course, Diamond makes many at a time and has the parts templated and ready to assemble. Probably only an hour to 2 hours per unit in labor, but to build one yourself like this is truly a labor of love and a hobby. You would have a very small market willing to pay for this level of custom work! Great job.

Me too. Toying with the idea of applying wood grain formica to the top to mimic the rails on the table. Not sure how I could finish the edges though.

Try spraying a piece of outside corner mounding for the edges with aluminum paint. Comes in a spray can.

I don’t know, it might look good. 🤷🏻‍♂️

May try some modified tile edge trim. Depends on if I can source a scrap piece of rosewood Formica. I'm not buying a 4' x 8' sheet for a 15" x 17" piece I need.

That would be more like how the rails look with the edging.

Almost have to keep you eyes open trash day for a scrap piece, off a desk, bookcase or whatnot.

Way more than $20/hr. Minimum, I figure my overtime rate. It's different when it's a challenge or a labor of love but from an economic standpoint, I figure $40/hr. So If I spend $400 on parts and materials I better have less than 10 hours in it. Shit...I just realized how much labor I have in my light. It looks good but I better not think about it.

It’s a hobby. Time spent is irrelevant.

Just go down to a cabinet shop where they are likely to have leftover Formica sheets laying around in many different colors.
Yup, I plan on calling a few tomorrow. I'd want Rosewood to match the rails on the table.

Gosh, Manning Cues sells a brand new Ballstar for $525.
Replacement parts are available if needed. My Ballstar is
over 20 yrs old and works great. Never had a single issue.
So unless you view this as a labor of love, I’d rather just
buy a new Ballstar that’s more compact & be done with it.

Does the Ballstar look like a Gold Crown? Did you read my first post which reveals the “why”? More to it for me than function.

It comes down to do you want a piece of equipment to use and easily store vs.
building a ball cleaner machine equivalent in size to a small end table or chair.

I’m more into functionality and simplicity when it comes to a cleaning apparatus.
However, if I had your skills & talents, then this is the way to go but it takes awhile.
