Gold Crown III problem

Ok so I just had my GCIII installed for the second time in two weeks because the installers screwed it up so badly I made them come out and redo the entire table:mad:But one of the major problems that I had with their job still remains.I had them install new Artemis no. 66 rubber on the rails and it plays really nicely but but on four of the six rails the rubber "sounds" loose to me in places.I can't move it with my fingers or anything but that boink sound is driving me nuts. When the "mechanics" came out the second time they took the cloth off the rails and inspected the rubber, they tell me it's firmly attached and that they don't know what is causing the sound. So what I'm asking is can anything else cause this problem?Or is there anyone you guys know of that could come out and check their work?I'm in southwest MI near Grand Rapids. Thanks very much for any help

Well If you find a good Mechanic send them my way , I'm in MI too and the people that did my table must have had holes in there head . I know how you feel .

I am not a mechanic.............but this happened to me as well. In my case there were rail bolts that were NOT tightened all teh way.

I found about 5 or 6 YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!

For any G.C., the Artemis cushions should have been the Intercontinental no. 66.

The rubber is for sure intercontinental no. 66 I ordered it myself:grin:The rubber only sounds loose in spots, not the entire rail. Thanks for the help so far

CALL Glen. REAL KING COBRA. Just did my table which was a $7000 Custom Built Table that played like Shit. He completely redid my table and it plays awesome with 4 1/4 inch pockets and Artemis 66 Inter Continental rails. Casey

Let me guess - he modified your rails to take K55.

I think that is what he did, not sure. All I know is that I had the table new for over a year and would not play on it. Thanks to Glen, I play on it all the time and it is a pleasure playing on it instead of a Nightmare. He has given me an early Christmas Present. Thanks, Glen.

Sounds like you were the guy that originally needed the K66 Artemis cushions.

Yet another job well done by the great REALKINGCOBRA.....Thanks for all that you do for the billiards community Glen...Merry Christmas....

If the cushion is loose in spots you would hear a clapping sound not a thud. Even though you ordered the cushions yourself make sure they sent you the right ones. If the nose is to high it will sound more like a thud.

Hi,thanks for the response. The sound is definitely more akin to clapping than a thud, the height of the cushions is dead on and they don't play slow. Also the rubber is definitely k55 profile,I inspected it myself when i received it.

check all rail bolts , pull up and down on rail liners if they are not tight
will not roll right and make strange noise.make sure glue is under top
and bottom of cushion ,check for a tight bond. hope this may help
check out side edge of rail when ball hits as to not hit skirt ,just a little bump
will make a noise. hope this helps you .good luck john

one other thing to check is when ball strikes rail does outside of rail
bump top of skirt i had that problem on a table.if so fold playing card
slide between rail and skirt to tighten up.

as in a previous post I stated that the floating nuts have a cavity that is sometimes directly where the cushions are glued. If the sounds are where the rail bolts are, thats your problem.

That's what I was thinking too...Great minds..lol

If that is the problem what is the fix? I seem to recall a post from OTLB where he said he filled them with wax, is that a sound issue or something else?
The fix is to fill them in. I would use wood filler so I can get the nut plate out if it becomes cross threaded in the future.
