Gold Crown pocket noise

I just got a Gold Crown II installed in my game room. Im used to leather pockets that dont make any noise. Is there something you can put in the bottom of the pocket to quiet the noise? I was thinking of a small round coaster of some sort. I know I can obviously put a small towel in each pocket, but every time I go to grab a ball/balls out, I dont want to be messing with putting the towel back. Thoughts and suggestions much appreciated.

Drop pockets or ball return? You are drop pocket, arent you?

I have a ball return one that was noisy, so I cut a thin piece of styrofoam to fit in the ball bin and it is a HUGE improvement. Of course, now the balls dropping into and running thru the ball returns are bugging me.

Interested in this topic I am.

Black Balled,

You can try a small diameter foam backer rod used in construction. Cut to length of your ball return rails and slit down the length, open the slit up and wrap it around the rails.

Or, use some small diameter pipe insulation.

Perhaps I'm out of line but either may suit your needs in quieting the sound of the balls rolling down to your ball return.

leather-lined

on my Gold Crown III, I got enough small pieces of leather at a
saddle/leather shop (for about $12.00) to put a round piece in the
bottom of the pocket and line the inside of the pocket. It made
all the difference.

Sounds like a good idea. On my GCII the ball occassionally gets caught in an endless vortex and you can hear it swirling in the pocket, then it gets quiet, then suddenly you hear it's still spinning much later. I think it goes for a full minute sometimes!
I think I've gotten used to the noise. I broke on a friends table recently and didn't realize I made anything since there was no audible tone in the leather drop pockets.

Try Staples or Office depot. Get a roll of cork as used for bulletin boards.
I think the last one I bought was $3 or so.

One the way home stop at Target. Brouse thru housewares for a cookie
or bisquit cutter of the appropriate size, unless you know how to operate
a compass.

On my GC V, I just folded up some scrap cloth and put it in the bottoms of the pockets. Less noise and no more ball spin.

To each his own I guess. I have a GC IV w/return and I love the sound of the balls dropping. And when you get a fast run and hear 2 or 3 running down the track at once, that's the best.

Of course, I was a rangemaster/firearms instructor for 16 years so my hearing is shot...

If you go to Home Depot in the Garden Section they sell a high density foam pad to kneel on while you are doing gardening. Its about 1 inch thick and is about 11 inches by 18 inches. I use it doing construction when I dont feel like using knee pads kneeling on concrete floors. Just figure out what diameter you need, draw it with a compass and cut it. it only cost about 6 bucks.....works great here is a link http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...053&langId=-1&keyword=knee+pads&storeId=10051
