Has anyone played on the new Gold Crown V pool tables?
I know they have been advertised for a while but didnt know if many pool rooms have tried them out. The IV was a disappointment for most people due to the constant issues with the leveling system being so touchy.

If anyone knows of rooms with these new tables, please give us a review.

We handled that problem by removing the leg levelers. Then they were fine. I have yet to see a GC5 in any room. I think business is slow, and Diamond has made a big dent in the new table market.

I don't think Diamond made a "dent" in the table market. Was more of a "severe hull breach" ......:D The Brunswick Flagship has been taking on water for quite some time.

From what I've been told, Diamond is a small company. I took that as them not being a giant killer yet.

Why anyone would buy GC IV or V over Diamond I dunno.
GC's are made in China and the cushions are made in China.
Diamonds are made here and have Artemis cushions.
No contest if u ask me.

i have played about 4 hours on a GCV in a persons home, it played great. I asked the mecnic who set it up what he thought and he liked it, he said it wasnt any easier to level, set up etc than the other GC's, B-Wick says they are. It played like a GC, the new light that matches it looks great but dosent work very good. the rails and the pocket castings dont match up very good and there are some SHARP edges that they will have to correct, the quality is good.

But, here's a question for you Fatboy, is the new GCV to the normal buying customer, worth the price of 2...not 1, but 2 Diamond ProAm 9ft's? Because that's what it's going to cost them to own that GCV, now here's the next question...WHY, would anyone pay more than twice the cost of a Diamond ProAm 9ft'er to own a Brunswick GCV?....:D

Wait a few months and check those cushions out.
You'll hate them.

I like the gc5 actually I like to sales person that plays me 3ball $2 a man I get 2-3 people playing. As for the gc5 I love the looks alot better then the gc4. I didnt notice any sharp corners on the table but then I wasn't using my cue either...The only Diamonds around me are worn out owner doesnt take care of them recovers once every 2 years it seems like ...

Just curious what the cost comparison of the two tables is ??

Russ.....
Close to $9000 for the new Brunswick, and about $4000 for a tournament used Diamond 9ft ProAm!

i deffinatly like the way the diamond tables play over the gold crowns.. but i will always have a soft spot in my heart for a GC.. the only thing i hate about the GC's is every time they are refelted they have a tendancy to play different.. rails will play different, inside the pocket jaws will play different, felt may be faster and/or slower... its really hard to keep one consistant unless the table mech really knows his stuff..

i kinda like the black gold crown 4's aprons and tops of the pockets.. and how they are more flush then previous models, and the fact they removed that brunswick logo at the foot.. that thing is a cue destroyer!

Glen,

you are exactly right, it isnt worth the $$$, not even close. Infact it isnt worth the $$$ a Diamond is. If I wanted a GC I would go find a GC1(in good condition like Riss did) or 4(real new), no way in hell would I pay $9,000 for a GC5, my friend got his for free so-that speaks for itself. I like GC's but I chose a diamond for one simple reason, they play different and moving foward in pool thats the table to play on.

If I was a house pro in a GC room then I would play on GC's-it would be a pretty weak joint(perhaps the weakest joint ever) for me to be the house pro lol, my point is unless you play out of one room all the time that has GC's yoy dont need a diamond, but if your gonna be out there in action tournments etc YOU have to play on Diamonds.
