Good comments only about the Pearl...

IMO Earl is lucky.

The matches with Efren are classics. I think before anyone can be the best that they can be they need a great adversary.

Bird vs. Magic
Russell vs. Chamberlin
Ali - Fraser
Strickland and Reyes!

That is why I think that Micheal Jordon, and Tiger Woods are UNLUCKY. These guys are great but they can never be what these guys were because of the rivalry (or lack of it).

Ill duck but say this anyway.

Schmit and Harriman could be the greatest, but they both are to blame for not making it happen.

Give me Earl and Efren and hand me the popcorn!

Has there ever been a stroke like Earl's?

If you had to bet big on a straight-in 30 foot shot (thirty - go with it, lol) into a 4 inch pocket, who are you going to ask to shoot for you?

We have not seen the last of Earl on top of the heap. You watch.

Go Earl!!!

I Don't Know Him

Although I've never met Earl, a frequent poster on here that I do know said if you get him away from a pool table or golf course, he's a really nice guy.

Competiton brings out the best in competative people, not spcifically the best personality.

I met him when he was here last year for the UPA tourney here. He was nothing but nice to me. He was a little scared of my pit/mastiff pup which was pretty funny. I enjoy watching him play. He makes it look easy and he is quite entertaining.

Earl loves cats. He goes a little goofy around them to be honest. If he sees a cat nomatter what he is doing he will stop and bend down to stroke it and talk to it. He talks nicer to cats than he does to me. I guess all I am saying here is that he isn't the mean guy that some people have him down to be.

At least you know he doesn't think you're a pussy :D:D:D

earl strickland is a legend!
A funny thing about your avitar. We are on the road, Johnny is driving the mini van, Im the passenger Earl is in the back. Earl decided he had a opinion on something and told us all about it with excitement in his voice and passion. Johnny and I didn't really agree with his point and told him ours. He came back with more evidence that we were3 wrong and he was right. So JA and I took turns telling him our thoughts yet again and taking a bit of time doing it and now we are getting a little loud and animated. When we are done with our side we expect Earl come back again louder than before and even more animated. But nothing. we didn't say anything for a second thinking we stumped him and he has nothing to say. I look back at him to see what his facial expressions told me, was he thinking, angry and just biting his toungue? No he was sat there with the ear muffs on that he wore at the open just smiling away. I have no idea how long he had them on. Ja said " He muffed us! do you believe he muffed us?" I just thought it was funny when I saw that picture again.

I wish I could write a book with some of the stories from the road. Earl does and says some funny stuff. The stories he can tell are just amazing, he should write a book or do a 2 hour dvd interview. MMM $$$$$$$ now I'm thinking.
HE told me he got jarred when he was younger, he was robbing a bunch of people in a pool room and the next thing he knew he woke up two states away covered in blood. Got back one way or another to find his cue had been speared through the ceiling on this pool room. He has more detail to the story but you can see what I mean.

The thing that will always stand out for me was just how many matches Earl won by blowout , even against the most elite nineballers. Nobody scored more 11-2 and 11-3 victories over top pros than Earl. When he was right, he was near unbeatable.

I watched Earl play a race to 11 match against Kim Davenport in Charlotte, NC once where Earl broke and ran out the first 8 racks, played a safety where Kim fouled, giving Earl ball in hand.
Earl got back up and ran the next 3 and out.
Kim threw a towel onto the table with 3 balls left in the last rack.

Well it is finalized, After alot of preparation and work Earl finally has his own line of cues. These cues are a limited edition that have most of the same specs as Earl Stricklands own playing cue. "The Pearl Series by Gulyassy" is ready to go out to the public. These are wonderful cues and are engraved with Earl's signature on the forearm. For more information you can go to www.babysproshop.com . I don't believe that they are on their yet but you can call Mike Gulyassi for more information on the specs and designs available. Earl have been playing for some time with his Gulyassy and is very happy with The Pearl Series by Gulyassi. These limited edition cues are at the unbelievable price of $250.00. Thats a great price for the quality you are getting.,

...and a 408 high run in straight pool!

Earl also has a 408-ball high run in straight pool as well:

And it makes sense when you think about it -- Earl is a natural at "clearing the table" quickly and without pondering shots too much. He just goes for it and executes. It takes this kind of "automaton" execution to string together long runs without overthinking the shot. I just wish he played the game of straight pool more.

Go Earl!

Earl is the best 9ball player ever!!!! BOTTOM LINE!!!

5 time US Open 9ball Champion

6 time World 9ball Champion

Need we say more?? 9ball is his game.

Pick a guy to shoot a shot better than him. Pick someone who can run the patterns as quickly. There is none better than the pearl.

If someone could get him to learn the nuances of the break Earl would be unstoppable but i guess even Achilles had a heal.

JMIO tho...

Earl was the man

First saw Earl play when he was only about seventeen. Shot straight then and ever since. Just needs to get it together. Tells great road stories when encouraged to do so. Great nine baller. One of the best all time.

the absolute BEST, SWEETEST stroke EVER of any cueist.

NOBODY hits whitey quite as sweet as Earl does. Nobody!

I had the wonderful oppurtunity of sitting down one on one with Earl over lunch and getting to hear some great stories. In my 20some years in this industry i have never met anyone else that was more passionate about the game. He absolutely loves it and has the desire for this sport to be great! He also admitted sometimes this desire can bring out the bad! Earl
truly is a great person!
