I know this has to have been discussed before but I haven't had any luck with a search. I have a new player on my APA team that has expressed an interest in getting an inexpensive cue. Could someone point me to a thread or offer any suggestions?

Action Sneaky?
Players Sneaky?
Other?

Go to the for sale section and post that you want to buy a cue under $100. The offers will come in for cues better than a players.

One of the best cue(s) I have found under $100 are the Griffin's. An extra shaft for a Griffin is about $45. I like the firm hit of the 5/16 x 18 Steel-Tite joint. It feels similar to my Schon, which is what I wanted for those heavy drinking nights when the Schon doesn't get out.

I have purchased a few, and have given several away as gifts to league players that needed a cue. Before the Griffin's, I was gifting Action's and Player's. I like the joint on the Griffin better and it is probably made in China by one of these two manufactures anyway.

Obviously nothing too fancy.

Player's cues have a lifetime warranty when you buy one new from an authorized dealer, the lowest priced cue is $44 MSRP so it's hard to beat. Just one thing to consider when buying a cue in this price range since there are so many to choose from, hope this helps.

Players Cue Is the best For Under $50

Players cues and action cues are virtually the same quality for under $50 but if you go over $50 lets say $50-$100 price range definitely go with a players, traditional styling and life time warranty.

this one of the best cues I have ever seen for a price range like this. Players HXT30
Has an LD Shaft and comes with a black kamui tip.

a buddy of mine picked up one of these for right around $100 (might have been a smidge over) a couple of years ago from Joe....looks like the price did go up just a little, but give Joe a call, and tell him you were recommended to buy from him on AZ Billiards. GREAT guy to deal with!! The link is to the cue, but you can check out all he has to offer in his eBay store - http://cgi.ebay.com/LUCASI-L-ERUL-L...845?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b0c7e855

I'm not recommending any cue in particular, but I will say that I have a $70 Players Merry Widow-style cue with a Moori medium tip on it that I will never part with. Hits/plays just as good as my Jacobys/314 combos, and the shaft wood is of very good quality. Maybe I got lucky and got a good one??? I don't know, but I sure am happy with this particular cue.

Before buying a Players or Action, I'd do what beer pressure said, go to the For Sale section and see what offers you can get for under $100. The seller might cut you a deal on something that's worth more.

pawn shops usually have all sorts of cues, lots of mcdermott cues and you should have no issue getting a 250-300(new) dollar cue for 100.

pawn shops seldom sell cues, so usually ready to deal to push em out the door

Hmmmm

Dude, Nothing wrong with a Schmelke cue made in Wisconsin. I believe they have a few for under $100. Good family business, and it would be nice to support a great company that builds a very good product.
