Good move, mods. Thanks!

Well I was reading the pages that happened overnight. I imagine it all being about par for the course. I was on page 74 when it was yanked.
Just like to know if there was anything out of the ordinary bannter that happened in the last few pages that done it in. Yes or no is good enough.

I was doing the same as you and didn't quite get to the end.

In my mind, the not so veiled threats that happened last night were more than enough to get it pulled.

Not pretty to read.

Same old, same old.

I did dig up a couple cool articles, though, about Archie Karas. Jay Helfert was mentioning a few high-roller pool players from years gone by, i.e., Rosey from Detroit and Jew-Paul. I recently read a great article about Archie Karas' run in Vegas at a poker tournament. The whole poker community was pulling for him to win. He's got the respect of poker and pool culture for his heart and gamble.

In two months, Karas may be broke again. He may be sleeping in his car, scrounging to buy into a high-stakes poker game. He may be just another lonely soul staring at the boulevard's flashing lights, dreaming of parlaying his last handful of change into a mountain of cash.

But he'll always know that for several glorious, odds-defying months, he made the Vegas myth come true...to the tune of $17 million.

Table of Dreams

"We played for $40,000 per game, but there were three or four poker players at the rail who wagered another $35,000 on side bets every game. That meant I was playing for $75,000 per game. The funny thing is I wanted to bet $150,000 per game, but they wouldn't do it. A few rail bettors were Howard Lederer, Steve Zolotow, and perhaps someone representing Chip and Doyle. As it turned out, I had the worst of the matchup, and I was normally the best handicapper in making the match at least an even gamble. In this match, though, I ended up losing about $700,000 over three days."

Archie Karas' Story of Shooting Pool

Archie Karas, what a shooter, what a guy! :)

And so it goes.

But that dam thread was the definition of epic.

Been on many a board on many a subject for many a year.

Never have seen a thread such as that one. For sheer entrigue and drama and replies and accusations and....well... just as epic as far any message board thread can be. Twas nuts.

absolutely good move! there were so many threads it was starting to become the next apa vs cte!

well i read most of the posts in what turned out to be 3 different threads on the subject...and what i came away with was that i think this whole thing was a jolt to the forum.
obviously all the characters that were involved had spent a lot of time together playing, gambling, talking the talk that goes with it all and
just maybe this was all a big ploy.i think maybe all the parties involved did have a bet...but it was on us here in this forum.
cant say who won the bet...
maybe Scott alot of folks took his side and came to his defense...and he has a new DVD coming out...
maybe dippy...he fired off some shots at Scott and made some good points...people will still want some of his cash... maybe Lenny...he does a lot for the game with the streams...and he is interested in viewers

all in all we got some great quotes out of it from the cast and the viewers... and now thread is dead and still us rail birds continue to post...it gave this forum something to voice opinions, perspectives and in some cases real negative feelings towards each other.
i myself feel like we all got played and the entire cast is sitting at SCOTT's or DIPPY's place reading and drinking and making wagers on US the whole time...or maybe the next time LENNY streams something they will all be there...laughing...joke'n and smoke'n as we wonder what really happened.....
just my take

I seem to recall getting to page 85 or so before I went to bed last night-er, this morning. But that could be wrong, too, as I was pretty blurry by that time. :o

Good move? Are you guys talking about the way I can control whitey? Yea, I can play a pretty good game of one pocket. Thanks for noticing. :)

I hear your moves are MOST impressive!! I'll be in TX next month. Maybe we can play some!

They should have waited another 500 posts before removing it...waited until it got REAL juicy...

The gracious Mr. Howerton has re-instated the afforementioned thread for everyone's reading pleasure. Reading pleasure only however...it has been locked to any more additions.
