good stuff.. Match of Archers nightmares

WAAAY too tough for me! If you know him, tell him he's got some easy action in St. Thomas. Just ask for the Professor.

Wayy to tough to watch right? I dont know him. They said he was a pool room owner that im guessing has money and time to blow.. Now he just needs to spend a lil more time on the tables he owns

I watched the match...It was actually a pretty entertaining match. The player in question was winning 2-1 at one point.

I don't see any point in coming on AZ and ripping his abilities. He paid his money and deserves at least a little credit for having the stones to not only compete against that field.....but also play on the TV table also.

In another TV table match the Ustream forum was trashing a guy who's wife was in the forum. The player getting trashed was struggling badly and to add insult to injury his wife had to listen/read all kinds of nasty potshots directed at her husband.

If this is the forum's idea of fun....count me out. I'll disable the bullshit forum feature next time.

BTW-Despite the huge gap in ability between Archer and the above player.....Archer was a true gentleman...and a good sport.

Great post.

^^^^^^^^. What he said! Agree!

For some reason I can't imagine a golf forum where people took pot shots. Wonder why......

His talent is equal to/better than a good percentage of posters on this forum if I were a guessing-man. So for the most part, you're criticizing/belittling many of us in reference to OUR games.

He won 2 games against Johnny Archer. I would LOVE to do that in a tournament of this quality. I've been watching the brackets/live scoring and seen a LOT of no-name players beating other no-name players (and by using the term "no-name" I am meaning NOT famous) 9-to-nothing. So 2 games won against a pool superstar like JA doesn't seem so bad in comparison, right???

If you ever saw my stroke, you'd swear Chris Bateman's looked like Buddy Hall's compared to mine.

Maniac (sorry were not all professionals )

Like it was stated above... gotta give him credit for entering a tournament where there are so many top players! No reason for bashing anybody on their abilities. Pool needs more people to step up play in these tournaments to keep them going to allow the sport to grow.

exactly... i remember when i started playing pool, i drove over 200 km to go to a tournament, i was just playing around 4 months. played against a (mostly unknown) german player, got two times to the table and shot miserable, he run the entire game out afterwards.

but id still pay some to play a star, even if today i know what a "safety" is :D

I love it that if a player isnt playing at an A or AA level on a stream they are horrible and cant play a lick. Sure the guy struggled with position and what not but liked mention earlier.. He's the one playing against Archer.. He is the one on a streamed table and he's the one that stepped up and play. Im pretty sure that he was a bit nervous and it carried over into his game. Or maybe he is just that bad. Honestly YOU shouldn't care or judge him.

People ask me if I would be scared to play on a streamed table and I always answer no.. I know for a fact that people are gonna rip the piss out of me and there is nothing you can do about it. I will step up and play anybody at anytime on any table in any tournament. What's the worst that could happen?? Learn something from a world beater???

Right on brother! Very well said, some people are here for all the wrong reasons, you my friend are not one of them, thank god,if a man pays his money and has enough guts to get up there and do what this man has, hes got all my respect,i sure wouldnt set behind my computer screen and make fun of anyone that is giving their all in something they love and believe in, God Bless this man, he has much more of what it takes compared to the one sitting HOME and trying to criticize(spell) him!

Another great post!, we all need to learn, even the best of us!

good for him

I play in the 4bears Classis, and do not have a chance in hell to win, but I have fun. Two years ago I drew Jesse Engel. I played excellent and got my ask kicked. This year Shuff, Moore, SVB, Beckley, Morra just to name a few were there that I could have drawn. What other sport can you pay and get a chance to play a pro.

Even better I was able to sit with these guys and have a beer and bullshit. Had lunch with Shuff, and SVB used my cue to play doubles with his mother against some of my friends. It was amazing. I would play double to do it again.

I would have loved to been on the stream against one of the big guys for friends and family to watch. Who knows maybe I catch a gear and get lucky. Dan Gable, the best wrestler of all time, lost his only college match to a no name guy.

Right on bro!! Anybody can win and lose at any giving time. I remember hearing a story or a B level guy that drew Parica in his first round match. He couldn't believe it and he said.. "Screw it!!! Im just gonna play my game..."

Well he did play his game and he fell into dead stroke. Every balls edge where sharp and clear... He could see every stich in the cloth and the cue ball danced around the table landing perfect on every ball. After pocketing a nine ball the crowd was clapping and one guy whistled.. The player looked up at the score and had Parica 8-1 in a race to 9!! He couldn't believe it because for him he was playing alone. Parica jsut smiled at the corners of his mouth as the last 9 ball fell after a BNR in the case game. HE shook the man's hand and said great shooting.. packed his cues an left. SO.... As you can see it can happen to anybody at anytime but I will tell you this.. You will always remember that euphoric feeling and every shot you took. Its better than any drug on this earth!!

I just watched the match and i felt the guy was not a great player but his money was green and he played HIS GAME . And won,so what if he don't have a great looking game, i bet he had a great time..Clap clap for the underdog....

Actually he lost 9-2.
