Got my Slug Doctor

So after having a test install on my table a few months ago, I finally got my Slug Doctor tight rack system. Since the test install on the table is still working great, I didn't feel the need to remove and replace the reinforcement dots, but like any kid I wanted to play with my new toy. So I used some of the dots that came in the package and installed them with the applicator for some drills. Now I don't have to worry about approximating where to set the balls up for the drills that I mapped out. And since I've seen that the dots don't seem to affect the path of the balls, I'm comfortable leaving them on the table. I thought I saw a ball roll off because of a dot once, but when I examined where the ball changed direction, it was nowhere near a dot. So the Slug Doctor helped me identify a slate seam. Time to bring in the mechanic. And being a guy with big hands that shake constantly, the applicator is a godsend. This is easily my favorite new product of 2010.

I ordered one so I am not knocking it.

My question is why do you need it to set up drills? I don't think you need it to place reinforcements on the table as I do that all the time to mark the table for ball placement when practicing certain shots.

I can think of one useful way that it could help. It can be used as an aid for the ghost ball method. Place two adjacent dots in line with the pocket. The center between the 2 dots are the correct spacing for the ob and cb to make contact. Place the OB in the dot that is the closest to the pocket. The center of the ghost CB will be the center of the other dot. When aiming you aim the center of the CB to the center of that dot.

The reuseable stickys that have object ball and ghost ball on it that Joe Tucker sells seem great for this.

I suppose I don't "need" it to set up drills, but it was a new toy and I wanted to use it for something, and since I already had the rack area done, I decided to set up some dots for drills. To be clear, I didn't use the template to set up the dots, just the applicator. As I mentioned, I have shaky hands and fat fingers, so peeling off the dots tends to get them stuck to my hands more often than the table. The applicator made the process much simpler for me, although others will certainly do just fine peeling the dots off and applying them to the table. Either way, I like it a lot, and I can't wait to try it out at some of my local bars.

I don't think anyone would mind you installing it at the mule. I would love to have it the lil action table they have back there.

If you can get someone to clear it, I will install it on the back table this Sunday. Too bad the Slug Doctor can't fix the table roll or the dead rails.

I'll ask Corey, I'm sure there won't be a problem. Bad rolls at the mule?? I thought it was my jedi ball tricks giving my opponent the rolls. Lol yes some tables are bad but nothing excessive, plus that one table is pretty ok. You can't have perfect conditions everywhere

Ryan-any action is action albeit small. I'll gamble only if I get the nuts, you know that! ;) Lol

If it is jedi mind tricks, then a lot of people must have them mastered there, because I've seen cue balls do stuff that would make Venom scratch his head.

And don't be modest, Alex. You know any time you're at the table you've got the nuts. Trying to get people to give you an APA race. You're the best locksmith I know. But I'll give you a try at some cheap scratch 8-ball if you're interested.
