The Eagles lodge up here is going to put Gorina's Granito basalt on their bar tables and I'm going to help. I would like to know what the stretch index is for that stuff please. Thanks Don

Don't know how many of the guys here work with basalt or what individual indexes were achieved. Index in it's basic sense is a measurement taken to mark the cloth so stretch is consistent down the length of the table. The index may vary depending on how much force is used to stretch the cloth (IOW some guys will get more stretch then others based on their size or technique used).
Generally speaking you affix (glue/staple) the cloth to one side, pick a spot on the opposite side between the pockets, apply max stretch and mark the cloth at the slate edge. Then release the cloth and back off that mark a half inch to get your index. Mark off your index measurement down the length of the cloth and this gives you a line to stretch to as you glue/staple the cloth to the 2nd side.
