I can hit shots with follow as well as anyone.
My draw shot is only average.
I know I tend to raise my tip as I stroke thru the c.b. is this :elbow,or shoulder drop that is lessning my "power draw"?

Yes I realize that video would be better for diagnosis, but the only video I have is me shooting the 14.1 breakshot in my avatar.Shot with follow as you can surmize!
And I was shirtless,so I don't want that on the web>

Appreciate your time and input!

I don't understand that quote. Is it a line from a movie or a song?

You're not drawing the ball well probably because you are not hitting it low enough. You've already more or less diagnosed the problem. How do you plan to fix it? Have you ever practiced your draw shots? How have you practiced them?

Fran I am not sure of original quote. I heard it in a pool room. 5 or 6 old guys were playing 3ball-1 tie=all tie. My friend and I got in the game "knowing" we had the best of it. As is so often the case,we kept getting tied with 2's and 3's.After many rounds at 7playersx2$,the drunkest old guy popped a ace to win. He did a fist pump, that would make Tiger jealous,
and yelled the " I aint the...".

Basicly you are a bad man if your are sleeping with the baddest man in towns lady and it is in his best interest to leave you alone!

Now can you pontificate on my ? LOL:wink:

Honored to have a post, other then a rules ?, that you would reply to!
I do practice my draw. I can draw the rock just not as good as my follow.Maybe that bar is
high,as I do hit follow shots very good.

I need to video my stroke analyze and find the problem.

Alpha,

I was having a bit of a problem getting the red circle cue ball to follow consistently & Fran gave me a quick fix.

If she suggests something, I'd certainly suggest that you give it a try.

Good Luck & Best Wishes,
Rick

Ok Thanks for explaining. I know about the slang term " old lady." I don't like it. I think it's disrespectful to women.

Regarding drawing the ball, many players aren't comfortable scraping the cloth with the tip in their follow-through. They're afraid of damaging the cloth. Cloths are made to endure that.

Another thing that happens when you try to scrape the cloth is doing it too soon, where the tip strikes the ball and the cloth at the same time, resulting in a micue causing the cb to jump.

A slight downward angle of attack where the cb is stuck first, then the tip follows through into the cloth would be a good place for you to start experimenting.

It's possible to draw the cb without scraping the cloth in the follow through, however, if you really want a strong power draw, you will have to do it.

Thanks Fran. I know its disrespectful. It was funny as hell when the that old cuss proclaimed
it. No decent woman would have been in that place.Still does not make it right.

Would a hard tip explain this problem also?

I doubt that. Two weeks ago I switched from a kamui Ss to an ultraskin medium and saw no effect on drawing ability or amount of English placed on cue. I have been playing with pressed elk masters and Kamiii tips for a long time. The medium tips are just as effective. Realize this the mediums feel hard to me cause of what I was used too.

The biggest difference for me was the sound and feel difference between the tips. I still have Kamiii Ss on the other shafts and will replace them eventually.

As far as your concern you are Probably not stoking the cb as low as you can.

Set up some draw shots two diamonds apart and pocket the ball with as slow a speed as you can with draw. Try to get that object ball to just fall into the hole. If it smacks the back of the pocket that is too hard. If you find you have to pound the ball in you are not hitting low enough on the cueball. Low and slow should give you practice and confidence. Most who have trouble with this lack the confidence to hit as low as Fran suggested.

Yes and no. If it's not roughed properly, maybe yes. If you have a poor stroke, definitely yes.

If the tip is roughed properly where it holds chalk and if you have a decent stroke, then it's not the tip.

Again thanks to all. When I say hard tip I mean HARD. I know my draw improves with medium to soft tips so I just threw that out there. Think my stroke is fine other then the
tip coming up. I can draw with a well chalked phenolic if I realy stay down&smooth
thru the ball so I guess I just need to emulate that on a consistant basis.

Once again thanks.:)
