I recentley obtained the full set of the famous "Color of Money" match (held in Hong Kong for $100,000 winner take all) between Reyes and Strickland. Most pool players(99%) know who the winner was and that he won by a very close score of 120-117.I'll keep that winner anonmonyous for the 1 % of pool players who don't know who won and might want to buy the set from accu stats.

This was a great great match between two high end nine ball players, perhaps the greatest two ever.237 racks of high end nine ball with lots of rack runouts and great shots throughout.

I also recentley got to see the complete match(2004 World pool Championship) between Pagulayan and Fong Pang Chao an 11-10 thriller which featured a fantastic hill-hill game and a 5 pack from Chao as he mounted a furious comeback.I 've also seen the match with Efrens famous kick called "the shot heard around the world."

I was wondering what everyones top matches on video/dvd, accustat,TV or otherwise that they've ever witnessed.I favour nine ball, however, feel free to itemize great straight,8 ball, one pocket, 3 cushion, snooker matches or anything else.

I'm interested in aquiring high end dvd/vhs quality matches that are considered amongst the best matches ever seen.Any feedback, much appreciated. RJ

Last night of Color of Money. Winner pulled a rally monkey to win it.
Efren against Busta, semis' of 2000 WPC. Busta leads 3-1, scratches on the break. When he shot again, he was down 10-3. Video not available. I have a copy and have no time to dupe it.
Efren vs. Mizerak, Pro-Tour championship semis ( 95' I believe ). Miz plays great early. Efren gets back on the table and puts on a show. Miz is ran over. Final of the same tourney, Kim Davenport and Efren go hill-hill. Kim is in dead punch; has the stroke of a god.
Alex Pagulayan vs Tang Hoa, Reno Open match. I dunno what year. Two hot shooting young guns go at it. Keith does the color commentary.

Despite my limited knowledge, I'd refer to Mike Sigel's 150 and out against Mike Zuglan in straight. But you probably have that already, so I'd say Mizerak vs. Sigel (Chicago) is certainly good acquiring. It isn't 150 and out, but it's just about the most technically correct straight pool I can imagine (90% of the shots in the near corner pockets, etc.). Lay man's opinion.

As for one pocket, I heard from Freddy The Beard, at onepocket.org, that you should get anything played by Steve Cook, Jack Cooney, or Jimmy Fusco. I'd also look into Leil Gay and Danny Medina. I'm in the process of acquiring those.

As for 8 ball, get the stuff by Roger Griffis in Accu-stats invitational. I hear Efren vs. Bustamante is pretty good as well.

Don't ask me which tapes to get, but I'm looking to study Buddy Hall's 9 ball patterns too...

hey now,

hopefully we can work out our trade. Here are my favs.

14.1
1959 irving crane v. joe balsis 10-20 match. Irving crane makes one of the most amazing shots I have every seen on the wire. Beter then the "shot heard round the world from efren.
199? nick varner's 150 and out. I forgot the match (I have it some where on dvd). It is the best 150 and out in my opinion because if you study it, you can really see the inner battle of concentration with nick. It is a really good study of the mental game. You can see the preasure mounting and how he backs away from some shots just to regain his mind for the shot.

9-ball
sands 14 medina v. incardona- danny runs 9 racks in a row like a gunfighter (forget position play just fire away)
1990 us open sigel vs. varner
91 williards, both efren matches
I would have to say the 96 color of money is pretty amazing too. It is a true clinic of 9 ball.
and the 88 sands number 7 sigel v. efren.
8 ball- I would have to say the 95 efren v. carter is pretty good, efren makes some nice shots to break up some clusters.
Jordan
PS,, can someone suggest some of thier favorite one pocket matches.

Year 2000 or 2001 WPC single elimination (L8), can remember the details. I haven't seen the match, but I'd like to see it. It's between Yang and Bustamante. Score is 1-1, Busta runs 4 racks to 5-1, Yang runs 6 to go 5-7 up and Busta ends the match with a 6-pack to win 11-7.

the 2002 world championship, between strickland and bustamante. strickland wins 17-15 after trailing a good deal of the match. plus, the added human interest story of bustamante playing after learning of the loss of his baby daughter back in the phillipines made it an even more emotional match, i believe.

My all time favorite has to be Archer Vs Kennedy in the 1992 U.S. Open finals. Tommy puts on a clinic and you can feel the excitement of the entire situation, the crowd, its just a great tape. Accu-stats has a hard time keeping it in stock because it is a very popular match, and very historic.

I also highly reccomend the 2005 Derby City match (won by Alex Pagualayan). There are a bunch of great players in that one. There is Johnny Archer, SHannon Daulton, John Schmidt, Rob Saez, and Efren Reyes.

Alex def Archer, Saez, Schmidt, Daulton, Reyes

Game 3 of that 8-ball match was a school in how to play 8-ball.
