Griff's 2026 US Open events

The Final is scheduled for 45 minutes from now, but the other semifinal is still going on -- Morra vs. Corteza, currently at 5-5.
Not tomorrow? Last night they were claiming it was Wednesday night while claiming to look at the schedule - if not, whoo! I have a meeting tomorrow night. Glad I checked in here.

Quite a final in the 10-Ball event despite lots of mistakes in the second half of the match:
- Shane jumped out to a 5-0 lead
- John tied it at 6
- They were tied at 7, 8, 9, and 10
- John won the next two games to take a 12-10 lead
- Shane won the next two to get to hill/hill, with Game 24 being a runout after John scratched on the break
- Shane broke successfully in the last game but missed the 4-ball after drawing lousy position on it. They each played a safety from that point but Shane's safety left a bank on the 4-ball through a window; John made the cross-side bank and ran out.

A 13-12 win for John Morra! No 3-peat for SVB.

Damn! I went to bed after Shane got up 4-0.

Didnt see the final, but the lack of a shot clock in the semis was too much for me. Morra was incredibly slow in his final racks vs. Corteza.

Nice win over SVB, of course. Seems Morra's participation in the PLP really sharpened his game for the Griffs event.

Sorry to disappoint anyone but the final match was not that well played. I watched the last five or six games and saw numerous missed shots, missed position, missed kicks and mental errors by both players. Maybe it can be chalked up to fatigue over a long, long grind in Vegas (a town which wears you down) or just so much pool on the final day. Both Shane and Morra looked solid at times but both experienced some lackluster play at critical junctures. Shane overhit and missed a couple of shots that he should have handled easily, plus made postion errors a couple of times and failed kicks. John actually froze up on a couple of shots and looked completely stymied as what to do. Think lonnnng, think wrong and he did, fouling up a pretty straightforward safety. John was having trouble getting out on open layouts and failed to get very simple position that should have cost him the match. He did play some excellent safeties that probably swung the match in his favor.

Yes, yes, yes, they play much better than me! But I see what I see and am not afraid to say it. Never was. I do enjoy listening to Mike and Colins though. They make it easy to watch with their commentary.

he played really well in the derby bigfoot. i was rooting for him, which i rarely do. but i think he has a very obvious plateau, and this is probably as good as it gets (which is insane considering his history, of course).

Shane seems to be in a trend where he loses most of the safety battles he gets into. Seems like the last year or so when he loses it's bcz the other player consistently beats him to the shot. Both guys had to be tired last night. 3rd straight race to at least 11 without a break in between.

Shane is not in his twenties anymore and those long sets and Vegas take it outta yah and help the younger player.

I just finished watching the video, and I'm glad I watched it without knowing how it was going to come out. Jay's right, it wasn't the best played match, but once Morra got to 6-6 it was a dogfight the rest of the way. Shane overran position several times, and in game 16 Morra had a brain fart on the 8 and left himself straight in on the 9 on the top rail with the 10 all the way down table near the bottom rail. That broke his momentum but Shane never really took advantage of it and gave away several games after that.

Shane also got lucky in game 23 when Morra left him a tiny window that let him run out. Half an inch either way and he would've been hooked.

yes, i completely agree

it’s what they don’t say that i notice
(the endless chatter disease)

also, they seem to be aware of that and
actively say less than they did last year

Collins is the most improved streamer/commentator of the past few years. Molina Mike on the other hand I can't stand. He seems to always want to play devil's advocate and has to disagree with Collins no matter what just for the sake of arguing. It's annoying. And he is usually wrong in most cases, especially when talking about shot selection or predicting what the player will do. Collins seems like a laid back and chill dude.
