Does anyone have a link of Guiness World Records for pool? There is a charity event that is looking to possibly attempt to break one next year. Of course, they don't know what the existing records are :)

I'd be curious of AZB'ers that have tried also. For example Blackjacks 10,000 balls in 24 hours, what is the record? etc.

I don't believe the 10,020 balls is a record at all...

The 24 hours WAS NOT consecutive.

I played 12 hours on day 1 - 5500 balls
I played 12 hours on day 2 - 4520 balls

If Rocky could have kept Capone's open for 24 hours (and why would he do that during a LAdies Spirit Tour event? It wasn't necessary) I would have probably done more going all the way through nonstop - but it should be noted that the 24 hours were not consecutive, but broken down into two 12 hour shifts - I stopped for two 30 minute breaks each day - and I also paused to pose for pictures - bathroom breaks, etc. - I was not on a record pace, I just wanted 10,000 and carefully paced myself to achieve that goal.

I'd be willing to go again if someone would want me to (for a fundraiser only) - I'm pretty sure (damn sure) I could pocket more than I did that weekend - I just need 2 tables, plenty of water, and a good cause and I'm there.

Gary Mounsey (most balls within 24 hours): 11,700; therefore one every 7.38 seconds. Set up became the record on the 30th of June / 1st of July 1979 in Hamilton (New Zealand).

Game fastest pool:

Dave Pearson (GB) set up it on the 4th of April 1997 in Pepper's bar at grill in Windsor (CDS) a pool speed record: In 26.5 seconds, it sank all 15 balls. (Would swell: Guinness book of the records 2001)

The record at the women holds with 37.07 seconds Susan Thompson (GB), set up has it it in the phoenix pool & Snooker club in Wallasey (GB) on the 1st of December 1996th (source: Guinness book of the records 2001)

Marathon: The world record in the duration of pool billiard stands now in 318 hours, set up of Ralf Brauckhaus (*1969) out of Balve and Thomas Steiner (*1962) out of Menden between that 18th and 31st of March 1988th both came in Menden on more than 1,500 parties. (Would swell: Guinness book of the records)

With me going at full speed, I know this one is danger. This is roughly 32 racks an hour - I was sinking 2 balls on the break most of the time and averaged at one point 33 racks an hour. I paced myself for 667 racks (10,000) balls - and I slowed down to maintain some energy for day 2 - but I know I can clear 780+ racks in 24 hours given the proper conditions.

318 hours of continuous billiards? That's just a few hours short of 2 weeks!

Nick Nikolaidis claims 16,723 in 24 (consecutive) hours. So you could find yourself chasing the wrong record.

In 2003, Ripley's Believe It or Not! invited Johnny and Jeremy Jones to a Speed Pool Challenge Match. The Speed Pool record was 1 minute and 30 seconds, and they had Jeremy and Johnny timed against each other to try and beat the record. They each had to break a rack of balls and then pocket all 15 balls, and then move to another table and break and do it again. They were in a warehouse in Los Angeles, where other challenge matches were also going on to beat records. Archer and Jeremy Jones performed an exhibition match racing against each other to pocket all balls on two tables. Archer was the victor.

I was shocked when I turned the TV on to find Jeremy Jones versus Johnny Archer! :eek:

I think Luc Salvas, Lou Butera, and a few other players are known for playing fast, but not Jeremy and Johnny.

I had visions of the 2003 U.S. Open when Jeremy Jones won the title. It may have been the slowest finals I have ever witnessed. :o

Maybe if I was 20 years younger and 50 pounds lighter!

No chance of having ME break that one!

That's roughly 46 racks an hour - or 1 rack every 25-30 seconds... that's one hell of a pace to keep - I'm wondering if those numbers are accurate or what size table he used.

???

I'm thinking that number is impossible - but then again, I'm only in the 10,000 - 12,000 ball range. lol

It's actually 1 rack about every 75 seconds. Still sounds impossible to me, though.

Learn the rules to English Billiards then go after Tom Reece's record of 499,135 consecutive points. It took him a little over 5 weeks. The best part was he got to heckle his opponent for the duration by asking him questions like "what chalk are you using?", and "how are you finding the table?"
