Here, again ;), is a VERY special cue. Just delivered and the latest to come out of the shop of whom many say is making some of the most spectacular cues in the world today... I would have to agree...

The cue is named "Gus 2000". This cue has twists on a classic makers look never seen and some things the new maker was doing for the first time.

The inspiration was what if Gus had been around to see the changes in cue making throughout the 90's and early 2000's. Would he have been inspired by the newcomers and take a stroll down their "avenue" a bit? Well this is a take on what MAY have been.

That cue is awesome. The updated propellers and cameo windows are striking. Hats off to Bob for pushing on the traditional cue design boundaries.

Thanks for all the great words guy's! Thanks to all those pm's too..

Been playin' with it all day and fit's my game perfectly. Thanks Bob!!

A lot of things stand out on this one. The scalloped motif in the buttsleeve stands out first. But the propeller inlays appear segmented, more complicated than the original Gus inlays. Then the various gunsight veneer/dot inlays remind me of the classics. Very nice; a lot of thought had to go into this one.

finally a cue with straight grain maple. I never liked the fancy woods, and the straight maple plays the best, just like old school cues. the design has too much going on, looks to be a concept or project cue for my taste, but its so well executed that it really doesn't matter.

Thanks Hoot...Yes. The propellers are 6 pieces. An ivory skeleton, 4 blades, and a brass hub. The use of ebony voids Were used to shadow the inside edges of the blades. The barbells look they're exploding from the ring work so we coined them "Exploding Barbells". Then to complete the sleeve look is the Scalloped Cameo. Tried to make the cue look familiar but different which did take some thinking but it couldn't have been done without the master Gus Szamboti's inspiration.

Yeah I wanted straight grain not only because I too love How the old school cues played but also because I thought it would allow the points to stand out.

As for it having too much going on well that was a major thought. There were things not done like add veneers to the points or make it an 8 pointer, which would have "busy'd" up the design too much. We kept it a 6 pointer to not only open up the design but also because 6 pointers were very rare from Gus. There's a lot more we could've done but we didn't go there because we didn't think Gus would have.
