Gus Cue Cap

Eric,

Here are the pictures for you. I am speechless, I can't describe this cue with words. What a set it is with the cap:

Eric, That combination is simply amazing. The caps truly maintain and
embelish the apeal of the entire cue. Are you playing with this bad boy, or is it locked up safe and sound.

Alton did a great job as always, and that is a beautifull Gus.

You know what would look great next to that cue.....a Gus with propellors.....

Hope your feeling well Eric,
Talk to you soon
Steve

Steve,

I dont recall hitting any balls with this cue, I have 4 shafts for it. It was someones player for along time. 2 of the shafts are wore out. Its a high milage cue-all the finish was wore off and it was re-finished at some point, the wrap was probably redone too, but its has been used since it was re wrapped. You can see some chalk, dirt etc that couldnt be lifted out of the wood grain near the points in the forarm, the delron butt cap looks origonal and shows alot of wear.

I know the above paragraph makes the cue sound like a clunker, its not, it was very well taken care of and refinished perfectly as could be done, its great it was a player for so long, a million balls were hit with that cue for sure(or close to it). there is no doubt it was a player for many many years and never abused. Thats the case with so mant Gus cues. Problem now is if that cue was lost in travel or something happened to it, it would be a tradigity. Money cant replace any of Gus's cues. especially a 6pt. Barry told me "Dad only made a couple dozen 6 pointers". I would guess this was one of the earily 6pt cues, its about as rare as it gets. I should bust it out and play with it sometime here at home, I have a rarer cue a GSB and I do play with it more often than any of my "Big" cues.

On a side note I do have the sister 8pt Gus to match this cue, they wernt made as a set, it was a coincedence I ended up with both of them, I asked a friend to "Find me a 6pt Gus" a month later he had it, that was strong as it gets, same story for the 8pt Gus. Barry and I decided that the pair of cues will awalys be together, So the pair will remain together, its a great body of Gus's work. Someday I might take pics of the 8pt with this cue. I'm kinda private with my cues but I should do that.

Like I mentioned in a different post I chose the 6pt cue for that special cap, I know I made the right choice.
