Cue has been with current owner about 35 years. Owner stated person he got the cue from said it was a Szamboti. Veneers are blk, grn, grn, maple. Ebony points/sleeve. Owner says original finish on cue but very well used over the years. If you have another opinion just chime in. Thanks for any additional info. Doug

Very cool indeed. Definitely an early Gus. The second veneer is blue, btw.

I am sure Gus is smiling down to see a cue of his being played so much.

Thanks for sharing.

additional info on cue:

cue section about 28 3/4 inches, shafts about 28 7/8 inches (owner put a new ferrule on 1 shaft), points are 8 1/4 inches long from top of handle, 5/16-14 pin, shaft pilot about .520" in diameter, 12 inch handle section, front of joint .840 inches diameter, 2 3/4 inches between top of point and bottom joint band.

Thanks CMD. I agree the veneer is blue.

Great set of caps Jim. I'll let the owner of the posted cue know about them... thanks Doug

Hey Doug,
I see the finish peel on the delrin buttcap. I can tell you that Gus definitely didn't do that finish.
Best,
Ken

Cue

It looks like a Gus and it has all the elements of a Gus cue but I zoomed in on the points and the veneers don't look right to me. It doesn't look like the blank is a Szamboti and if he didn't make the blank then he most likely didn't make the cue. That's just my 2 cents
