I found this cue at the same pawn shop that Ken found his in a few weeks ago...lol

You are looking at a 1975 Gus Szamboti in 100% original condition. This is a time in history when Gus was still perfecting his point work and small inperfections are visable. This adds to the character and history of this cue. This cue also has paperwork from Barry Szamboti.

There are three shafts that go with this cue, two from Gus with original tips and one shaft has never seen chalk. Both of these shafts have micarta ferrules. The third matching shaft is from Barry Szamboti and has an ivory ferrule. Barry has the original ring work for this cue on a stick in his shop from when Gus made them.

You can own this cue and is listed in the W/FS. Just thought I would put some pictures up here to show off a real rare piece of early Szamboti history!

First Gus that I have seen with mittered veneers. All the other ones I have seen were overlayed.

i'm looking at the photo showing 3 shaft ferrules and tips.
photo #008.

the center shaft i believe is wearing a brunswick blue diamond tip and the shaft on the far right is wearing a lepro.
quite a fantastic shooting cue actually.

it wasn't made for 9 ball that's for sure.
the way it's set up with that extreme high end linen (that's really good stuff) and those tips and ferrules, that cue was made to move the ball around.

the stainless joint collar makes the cue hit hard and fast, and judging by the wear of the center shaft tip (and ferrule), that's just what it did.

i promise you it played a helluva game.

someone like, lets say - Irving Crane, would've be home for that Gus.

If it will help any, I am going to call the owner of this cue up to answer questions I received in pm. I will find out what kind of wt. bolt system was used, how many maple boxes in the ring set, and, more information on the points.

It is hard to tell from my not so great pictures, but, the black is two inlays and the natural is the same way in the points.

To answer a few questions...

Both orignial shafts are micarta.
The ring set has 24 maple boxes.
The WT. bolt is steel, 2", 5/16, screws directly into wood, the but cap is lose when the bolt has been removed.

Hey Mr. Jim!

I wish this was my score....sweet original cue. This one is F/S by owner.

I guess the best thing to do is contact Barry Szamboti and let him clear this up for the guy.
