Thanks for the laughs, 'Doctor'.
Trying to characterize me as a 'loon' won't change the facts for those that can see them.
I've been down this road before with another ego of your like.
How about this one,
See Ya' latter,
Rick
Yep, and not a thing has changed. I've kept quiet because I know it's just a matter of time until you get yourself banned again. The only one fooled by you is you, EVERYONE else sees right through you.

Just say "pendulum stroke" three times.

All I know about that picture is that his hand is hitting his chest, and his wrist is bent in exactly the same fashion mine bends when my hand hits my chest.
Also, if he wasn't jacked up over the 3 ball, his cue would be level.
Right. That is all you know because you are looking at photograph that depicts a single second in time. The man in the photo was one of my closest friends for 30 years. Would you like to have a debate about his form?
Sometimes when I`m executing a power draw shot, i find that my right hand (the one i hold the cue with) touches my chest at the end of the stroke.
Am i simply not gripping the cue far enough back or is this indicative of something else, like twisting the wrist or any other problems?
I work on my stroke and particulary my draw shot quite a bit, but when I`m shooting harder than medium speed this happens way too often.
if i'm hitting the ball real well and draw the ball hard i'll bruise my rib cage. i know i followed through and hit it well when i keep hitting the same spot and it starts to hurt
His general form is irrelevant to the discussion. We're talking about what's happening in that photo.
His hand is against his chest, his wrist is bent; and if it weren't for being jacked up, his cue would be level.
That's all I was pointing out.
Ok ok, break it up.
BTW that photo doesn't appear to be the finish of a normal shot which makes it useless in this discussion.
To the OP, I do this too. In fact, after a three month layoff I spent a couple hours doing Bert's mighty X and feel bruised up from hitting my chest with my hand. I'm a B player most days and have played like this for years. From doing this drill so often I have the X worn into my cloth along with a follow through mark about six inches past the spot where the CB rests for the shot. This "left turn" wear mark in my cloth is from my hand hitting my chest and my wrist bresking OUT due to my hand deflecting off my chest while still going forward. For the record I use a more piston style stroke and my cue is level at all times. My left (front) foot is about six inches to the left and parallel to the shot line.
I don't know if this issue is holding me back due to it being caused by a mechanical issue or if it's my natural finishing position due to my injured shoulders. If you (the OP) ever get something resembling an answer, please share it with me.
Thanks and good luck.
James
Ok relatively level sheesh. Don't bunch up.
You're bruising yourself and you're wondering if something's wrong? Yes. Something is wrong and it starts with your alignment. You are probably straddling the line of your shot with the center of your body when in fact, your shooting arm is on the SIDE of your body. Of course you're going to hit yourself in the chest.
I'd like to see how your cue is level at all times. If that's true, you'd be the first.
James,
Is your cue riding in contact with your chest for the whole stroke or is it only coming up into your chest when your hand hits your chest?
Also, just to be clear, are you talking about your hand or your wrist area hitting your chest?
That made me think of Sigel's stroke. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfz7rpVBVjQ
I know I come across as stubborn at times, but I do take what others say into consideration. So today I tried Sigel's stance and stroke (minus the huge elbow drop). I missed a lot more shots than I made, but I could definitely see some positives on the shots I did make.
Oh, and my hand was nowhere near my chest![]()
Sigel's stance is extreme. If I can recall, he's right handed but shoots pool left handed. My guess would be that his extreme stance is to accommodate his dominant right eye. There are a whole lot more options in between Sigel's stance and bruising your chest due to repetitive hitting.
I think it's great that you are experimenting with your stance. Keep at it but remember, change is uncomfortable.
