Happy Ending!

Interesting issue. Violent protesting isn't going to help, hasn't anybody learned anything from MLK? She's right about poor general leadership in the past 20 years, and the distraction caused by political in-fighting to not recognize it as the core problem.

I agree it's a real issue in some sports - but what physiological advantage do males have over females in pool/billiards?

It doesn't matter. Apparently, someone felt the need to have women's pool tournament. He was not a woman.

If women's pool tournaments were eliminated in favor of just "pool tournaments", see how many professional women pool players we would have in a few years. We need to protect women's sports.

OK, why does the Women's Professional Billiard Association exist? Do they have a right to exist? Or should they have to justify their existence?
And here's something else perplexing: if he just enjoys playing pool, why doesn't he simply play in men's tournaments and avoid all the controversy?

If he just enjoys play against women (for whatever the reason), shouldn't he extend them the same enjoyment? After all, for whatever the reason, that's what all those other women wanted to do. It all goes back to my question: does women's pool have a right to exist?

To give them a fair chance in sports where men have natural physical advantages.

pj <- not obvious?

I think this is the wrong path in the argument.
I'm absolutely sure there are women that have the physical and mental ability to compete in cue sports if they applied themselves to achieve excellence at these games. Zero Doubt!

Problem is, there's too few women attracted to these games, compared to the numbers of men.

The argument isn't about a weaker sex. It's about fewer numbers of women involved.

Don't just think about the current Women Champions. Think at your local level. At your room.
How many women do you see with their own cue walk in to play and practice for hours compared to the men?

I guess the game simply isn't attractive to enough women to raise the level of play, and that's the problem.

If there were the same number of women playing as men, I'd guess we would see no skill difference between men and women, and our current champions would likely raise their game to meet that challenge.

How many times has your level of play risen or fallen because of the quality of competition you're facing?

Yes, I don't think men have a physical advantage in pool/billiards.

I agree with that too. It's like pitting the best player in the world against the best player in a small town.

I've mentioned it before, I look at a man like Raymond Ceulemans. I forget the exact years (I'll check) but when Blohmdahl Jaspers, Caudron, Sanchez and the like were regularly achieving Grand Averages of 1.8 and over 2.0 in World Cups and Regional tournaments, Raymond decided to retire. Over his career his averages were 1.2 - 1.5ish when he ruled in World Championship matches. I think it was 2 years after retirement he came back in 2001 and won his last World Championship with an incredible (at the time) 1.696 Grand Average. Blomdahl in 97 scored a 2.015 average. I think that's when Raymond started to think retirement. What he actually did was work to improve his game. Then came back to kick some butt one last time.

Point is, the competition caused him to work harder. He'd never before face this situation of needing to average 1.8 or 2.0 to win a tournament.

The major point is ... The greater the competition the better the players get.

Whats the plan to get more women into the game? I'm sure its not more gambling and macho BS in taverns.

I asked AI to explain the Birds and Bees in 2024......This is what I got.

The whole 'birds and bees' thing has become more difficult nowadays

You gotta explain all about the birds and the bees, the birds and the birds, the bees and the bees, the birds that used to be bees that still like birds, the bees that used to be birds that actually prefer bees, the birds that have stripes like a bee but can't make up their mind whether they are a bird or a bee and the bees that now look like birds but still have a little prick.

2 main advantages: men have stronger arm muscles resulting in much more effective break shots and high velocity shots in general = to generate the same speed men need to use less power than women resulting in better accuracy. the other advantage which is being ignored quite often is much better 3d vision of men as compared to women. Its down to neuron development in the visual cortex which is enhanced by masculine hormones - mainly due to testosterone men are born with 25 percent more neurons in visual cortex than women. Thats HUGE difference🙂
