Happy Holidays To Bill Stroud - You, Sir, Are The Grinch!

A mans word or handshake should be all one need's.
Bill Stroud must not have grown up around the time
I did.
Shame on you Bill Stroud :nono:

I tried talking to him once (at DCC) about this and he blew me off like it wasn't a big deal. Pretty disappointing to say the least. Billy my man, you dogged it big time here!

if I may ask; how did that conversation go?

thanks and happy holidays, Jay.

It really is pitiful to see how this keeps affecting people who have lost nothing on this.

Jesus, get over it, quit crying over this.

Guy did a bad thing. Big effing deal. People do FAR worse every day.

I agree with this.

Brian,

Has anyone been on the lookout for any of the "free" cue designs submitted to Mr. Stroud? Perhaps in keeping with his apparent lack of personal integrity, he's sold or given the "donated" designs to another cue maker. Oh, I forgot, he's a cue making legend whose cues are still going up in value. Never mind!

One can only hope the "Spirit of Christmas" will visit him Christmas Eve and turn his cold, cold heart.

To all my fellow posters, the very best this season has to offer each of you.

Lyn

That thought entered my mind when the contest was first announced and I hoped against hope that would not be the case.

However, I too am curious to know if any of the designs show up elsewhere. But since they were shared in a public forum, I doubt that the designs are protected.

There is a difference between the LAW and what a given judge or jury on a given day may rule.

But IN GENERAL, it is a good idea to "protect and defend" copyrights by using the copyright symbol....a "c" within a circle when publishing copyrighted work on a public forum.*

HOWEVER....when the work is created and reduced to a physical medium (paper...recorder, photo/digital image etc.) a copyright vests in it...automatically and it would be LIKELY that courts would place a burden on someone who would use a "work" to determine whether it is copyrighted. Ignorance of that situation is not a defense to infringement claims.

*The law (adopted by all members of the Berne Convention in 1989) basically did away with the former REQUIREMENT to use the "copyright notice" or lose the copyright. That is no longer the law but a LOT of owners still use the symbol so that no "clever lawyer" can say to the jury..."Hey...he didn't care about protecting his copyright so why should you?"

I agree with this.

+1. Let him without sin cast the first stone.

We moved to the Boise area a few years ago. We love it and it has been INTERESTING! These are THE most polite folks I've ever lived around and I've lived in quite a few places....North and South.

Even the 6 year old KIDS look you in the eye and say "Yes sir or no ma'am."

And my POINT is...that around here...you just DO NOT say unkind words about ANYONE for ANY REASON. If you do....YOU are the one who gets the "sideways looks" regardless of what you accuse someone else of doing.

And it's not just a "right wing religious" thing. It's the WHOLE community. I've had to learn to KEEP MY PIE HOLE SHUT...on many occasions!!

And I think I'm better for it.

Idahoans are nice people aren't they. Must be something in the potatoes.

Seeing how Bill still posts on AZ, Mr. Hoppe had the idea that we should Dog him a bit and ask him about the cue in any of his posts. Also give him a Red or two asking for a resolution for this.

Don't have to be rude to Bill, just politely ask him to deliver the cue whenever you get a chance. He seems to be able to be here yet ignore these threads. If he won't come to you, go to him.

Red is a nice Christmas color and I think he'd look nice with a Red bar until
he delivers, at that point, we can turn him Green again.

I know that Brian seems to be on a mission here. Some think its good and others think he should drop it.

It only takes a couple of minutes to type a post and show your support.
From what I have read from people that know Bill, he doesn't seem to be the type that can be easily shamed.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with Bill being constantly reminded about this screw up.
I'm kind of thinking that deep down, he would probably prefer this would go away without him living up to his obligation.

Somewhere down the line, Hammy will get his cue, or a cue for his trouble. Its just the way things work out in this world.

I know that someone wanted to take up a collection and get Hammy a custom. He apparently didn't want it that way. Maybe he will change his mind in the future and if he does, I'm good for a small donation to the cause.

Anyway, Have a Merry Christmas fellow members and All the Best in the New Year.
