Hard Times Qualifier

Theres a rumour in another forum that Wu Chia-Ching is playing there. That's very interesting. Anybody know for sure? Also Ronnie Alcano and allready mentioned Dennis Orcullo.

Can't wait to see the draw. I'd love to see more of the Taiwanese stars in IPT.

I wonder if the IPT supplied the cloth for the tables.

Who bore the expense of recovering the tables? The owner of the pool room or the IPT?

Just curious.

I'll check with the owner tomorrow or with Smitty who was finishing up the tables today. The tournament room was full today with a long waiting list. Oliver Ortmann was there as was C.J. Wiley and a whole contingent from England and the Philipines. I'm not sure what they mean when they say the field is full but the guys who are there are getting out from every where.

Tables

Well I finished up the last table at 7:30 tonight. I recovered 14 tables for the tournament. The owner of Hard Times is paying for the recovery cost. The IPT supplied the cloth. They gave us the cloth because they are testing it out.

This is the biggest tournament I have ever seen on the west coast. Remember this could be worth $100,000+ to who ever wins the spots. They have 80 players that are going to play. Dennis Orcollo, Antonio Lining, Warren Kiamico, Ramil Gallego, Cj Wiley, Oliver Ortmann, Ron Wisemen, Rob Saez, George Breedlove, Morro Paez, Dave Hemmah, Mark Jarvis, Scott Frost, Santos, Bernardo Chavez, Oscar Dominguez, and so on. I will try to give info when I can. Word has it that Woo is going to be there and i talked to Dennis and he said that Ronnie Alcano was suppose to be there.

As posted no admission. Friday 9:30 AM players meeting (full field) games start at 10:30--projected. 1st come 1st served. Watched Dennis Orcullo practice the other evening and he is very impressive. After playing rotation for about an hr he broke and ran 3 racks of 8 Ball. He is very impressive! Everything is effortless. Where in the Phillipines are these guys cloned? All tables have been recovered in the IPT cloth. Smitty was really busy. Pockets are 4 1/4". Bleachers have been cleaned and all metal repainted. By the way Orcullo's practice session was on table 1 that hadn't been reclothed yet and the pockets are 4 1/8", tightest in the room.
Thnx for the update Gerald.
Dennis is from the south of the Philippines. Same place where Efren's sponsor, Jose Puyat, is from. He's one tough player. Great money player.
I'm going to try to catch some action late Saturday.

I heard he was going to get a Visa soon and start playing in the states a lot more. Does anybody know if this is true? He's a great player and I look forward to watching him play in person.

Sounds like it's going to be a great tournament. I sure wish I could go.:(

Are they going to keep the cloth on after the event?

Thanks for the update. I am coming down tomorrow and some during the weekend. I will introdcue myself to you even though we have already spoken. I have a table recovering question to ask you as well. I hope you dont mind.
Thats a strong field. Imagine that most of these guys will not be getting there tour card. I think most of the IPT events will have the 150 Card members and then 50 others for 200 total. I predict several out of those 50 in each of the events will move in the top 100 and keep their cards.

I have not seen Lining play in quite some time. I wonder about Luat and
Andam? Are they already in or have they tried.

What was your thoughts regarding the cloth?

The field is geting stronger and stronger. I counted 78 names on the IPT website but I may have missed a couple.

So many good players; so few open spots.

The IPT cloth looks and feels like the pre Simonis is sliding/shedding/fur balling. Also, they are not practicing with the measle cue ball.
