idk if its just me but for some reason its harder for me to play on a bar table then it is to play on a 9' tournament table, i think it because the 9' gives you more room to work with

I only joined this forum recently, but I believe this has been discussed a ton in just the short time I've been here. It depends on the game. I see you lean more towards 9 ball. I think 9 ball is VERY easy on a bar box that you are used to. I think 8 ball is easier on bigger tables though. BTW, how many threads can you start in one day? Going for a record?

dont treat me like a 3 year old i know where the search option is, but i dont like to use it cause it tends to give me resaults im not looking for...example last week i was looking for stuff about ipt chalk and yea i did find some stuff but nonw of it really helped what i was looking for so id rather just ask the exact question i want answered rather then go dicking around in the thousands of post out there trying to find the answer i could have had anwered in 2 mins by making a thread

Easy man, I wasn't trying to me demeaning, a lot of people don't ever think to use the search function, but honestly I have learned so much when searching for the answer questions I have. I constantly "bump" into information that leaves me going "hmm I never would have thought of that". I have only seriously been playing pool for around ten months, not including a couple months of very casual play (one night every other week or so) prior to falling in love with the game, but I think I know more than most players I play with who have been playing for around the same length of time as me. Part of that comes from when I am searching for an answer to a question I have I am constantly saying, "that's not the answer I am looking for, that's the answer to a question I hadn't thought of yet..."
Anyways I don't know what there are for pools hall between us, but you are only about an hour away from me (I know because my ex-girlfriend goes to Caroll College) If there is one I wouldn't mind meeting you halfway to shoot a few, If there is one around you, hit it up when you can, become a regular, and show the other regulars that you have a passion for the game. It's been my experiance that the better pool players will tell you what you are doing wrong, but not how to fix it, figuring that out is your job. Hehe, but if I know what you're doing wrong I promise to tell ya.

sorry if i came off as a total a*s there...but at the moment im kinda keeping my game at the waukesha teen center if you have heard of it, mainly for two reasons 1. im not good enough to go to the pool hall "in my opinon" and 2. i have no trasportation...but i have been thinking bout taking the bus on the week ends to the pool hall just to get some practice on the 9' tables...and by the way do you know of any 9 ball tournament near us
I equate playing on a typical 9' pro tournament table (like the Diamonds at the DCC) to playing a pristine Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course.
I equate playing on a recreational 9' table (like those in a typical pool hall) to playing a moderately-maintained muni golf course.

Good analogy. You left out the 8' bar table, which I would say is like a mini 9-hole course.

You really don't have to be "good enough" to go to a pool hall, I started at the pool hall just banging balls around, and I still go there and bang balls around
Really it's gonna be an awesome place for you to learn because you can watch other players and see what they do, learn strategy, etc. The only regular 9 ball tournys I know of are at my local hall, every thursday night is an open tourny for more experianced players, and every other monday night is an amature handicapped tourny for the less experianced players. Alternating with the monday night amature 9 ball tournys are 8 ball tournys every other week, as to switch it up, I participate in the monday night tournys. BTW I play at the Carom Room in Beloit, WI.

His name was Bruce Borland (worked for Nicklaus Designs for years). Unfortunately he was in the plane with Payne Stewart when it went down. 
Oh, and I forgot to mention a bit of a bias - I dated Mr. Borland's niece in high school. Next time you are in the Peoria area (I see that you are not that far away) drop me an email, and we'll hit Coyote Creek GC. I'm up for a round ANYTIME!!!

I agree. I find it harder to work my cue ball magic with so little room to maneuver and so many clusters.
