I've stayed away from fighting for years (when I can), but I tend to agree with him that we need to have some personal honor and be willing to fight and even die for it. To say that Alexander was a fool for being willing to fight and die to defend his honor is laughable and showcases the degradation of society that we are starting to have to deal with.

Jaden

P.S. to fight over a pool game is ridiculous, to fight over an insult to one's honor is completely different and is not fighting over a pool game. Now I know John and I'm sure it was meant in jest or as way of saying come on let's just play the game. I know that people can misinterpret someone's intentions on doing something. I just ran into that same problem down at the LA qualifier for the predator ten ball event. Someone thinking that I was trying to shark them for asking for a ruling on something I percieved as being against the rules. I accepted the ruling and even started to do it myself as well.

Great post Jay, as per usual.

I have a question that I would very much like you to venture a guess on, or give your opinion on. (I was discussing this in PM's with Xianmacx, a real knowledgeable poster here, & would like to hear others opinions as well)

If, after all this hub-bub, either JS or DH played a big $ challenge match with a WCW (World Class Woofer) like Scotty Townsend or Keith, etc, how do you think it would effect each player?
For John, I think that the woofing sort of took the nervous edge he may have had away from him, sort of calming the butterflies, by channeling his nervous energy in the little pschological games being played. I think it HELPED him stabilize his nerves. Some guys just seem to play better & calmer when they're jibbering.
For Danny, it appeared to have the opposite effect. He seems to have been bearing down but when he heard something negative, it jacked him to the extent that some simple words took him off the table. He seems to have a problem "multi-tasking" at the table, i.e., he shoots better when he doesn't have to listen for, deflect or respond to any verbage. When things went downhill in him & John's "relationship", his game went south as well.
I did NOT see this match, I'm trying to go by what I'm piecing together in all these threads & posts. So, do you agree with me or am I way off?

No matter what, the "rubber-match" will be MUST SEE. This little rivalry between two super-elite players is good for our sport. Just look at all the buzz still being bantered about days after the fact.

I just wanted to comment on this question also if that is alright. I feel like if you are going to match up with someone you know is a woofer, then you are prepared for the jibes that might come your way here and there. Danny may have been thrown off a bit because he wasn't expecting John to say anything at all, so was a bit taken aback when he did.

As far as Jim Kuyendall's post, I never read into it thinking he was talking about John being a drug user. I felt like he was talking about different influences some players might have for acting irrational. Anyone who has ever known John would know that he isn't and has never been involved with anything like that. I know Jim knows that.

As far as John saying something to Danny, it is unfortunate. If defense of John, everyone here on this forum who has played for more than their car is worth can attest to saying things out of frustration or nerves in the heat of things. That doesn't make John a bad person, and it doesn't make Danny a whiner for voicing his displeasure about it. I think that the next time they play, nothing but the highest level of sportsmanship and play will ensue.

Lastly, as far as Jamison is concerned, I do understand what you are trying to say. (kinda) With this board, you will never get very far with people if you continue to write sentences like this, "I know that sometimes I come off stupid even more so on the internet. I guess I brought myself up right if I am less like the "smarter" people." It might serve you a bit better if you really sit and read what you have written impartially, and see if it makes sense that way.

Good luck with that, though.

Yeah I get that it's trash talking to say "...403 ******" but I would be pissed if someone said I was acting like a little ****** period.

But what I can't stand is when someone gets mad at me because I won't let them break the rules.

If John truly said that after not being allowed to use the jump stick which was against the rules then I would think John would owe Danny an apology.

2 sides to every story though.

You are 100% right in your assesment luxury, but as humble as John seems to be I can almost guarantee you that he will not want to discuss the his problem he had with the jump cue and if he does we won't get the truth except for him to say I forgot. John we both know it was a move and that is that, if John does apolagize for the way he treated me in our last match then I would be surprised. However an apolagy is definitely in order, I would not play someone under those conditions and faid that kind of verbal abuse for ten dimes.

I learned some moves from John that I have never seen before, I am not one to go crying and I will not say any more about this cause I don't have any face lft to save. It's also not an issue to me on whether I am right or wrong cause I know who acted like a fool in our 2nd tar, all I can say is I am a man of many faults but dishoesty is not one of them.

I've lost a lot of respect for both Danny and John as the result of their behavior as outlined in this thread. This is not the behavior of men with integrity.

Agreed, while some folks enjoy all the trash talk, it hurts the game. I enjoy watching two professional, well mannered pool players competing. I can't stand it when they resort to trash talk, it brings the game down a notch.
